Sling back shoes but sling doesnβt stay up

Strap on shoe that is the sling back doesnβt stay on. Keeps sliding off. I bought in size 8.1/2 which I usually wear. Too big. So I exchanged for an 8. And same problem. Slung back strap isnβt tight enough and falls down. The style is really nice so Iβm disappointed they didnβt work.
