A spark of brightness in the crisp, clear air
A signature scent from our Beyond the Pale collection, inspired by the vivid contrast of sunlight catching citrus groves against the cool stone walls of Irish gardens. Bitter Orange captures that invigorating moment when brightness meets earth - sharp, luminous citrus tempered by ancient oak and forest air. Fresh yet grounded, this fragrance energizes the senses while maintaining a connection to the natural world, evoking clarity and quiet vitality. All handcrafted and hand-poured over two days in our Dublin workshop using time-honoured techniques perfected by our artisans since 1488.

Gile na Gréine (The Brightness of the Sun):
Bitter Orange is shaped by those moments when light transforms the everyday into something vivid and alive. Imagine citrus oils releasing their sharp sweetness into cool morning air, zest against fingertips, warmth breaking through mist. The fragrance opens with the bright strike of orange and lemon, lifted by green pine, before settling into the earthy embrace of oak, moss, and forest resins - grounded, enduring, and quietly powerful.
This is the scent that speaks of energy, renewal, and Gile; a radiant brightness that awakens and inspires.
Gile: In Irish, Gile means brightness - a sense of clarity, luminosity, and the vivid light that brings the world into sharp, beautiful focus.
The Rathbornes Guarantee
Every Rathbornes reed diffuser is crafted with the same care and attention as our candles. Our fragrances are expertly blended to diffuse gently and consistently over time, creating a balanced scent experience that feels natural, calming and enduring within your home.
Diffuser Care Tip
Insert reeds evenly into the bottle and allow 24 hours for the fragrance to fully diffuse. Turn the reeds regularly to refresh the scent. For a lighter fragrance presence, reduce the number of reeds used.

Works
Color: Mayday
A little does go a long way. It’s on the pricy side but it was worth it. It’s not something to be using all the time. But definitely a back up for whenever you do get sunburn

Really effective!
Color: Mayday
I was totally blown away by how effective this was on my recent burn, I wish I had taken pictures. So much so that I did a deep dive into the ingredients and formula (I'm a nerd). My takeaway is that this is a bargain for the quality of ingredients and the care of the formula. The product absorbs quickly, is non-greasy, and relatively moisturizing and most of all, really effective. I personally appreciate the lack of any real scent or fragrance. I'm a big fan!

Not the results I expected
Color: Mayday
I sooo wanted to love this product; however, the results were not as I expected. Especially at this price point. I have sensitive skin & actually broke out, so maybe I am allergic to one of the ingredients or applied the product too thickly.
I’ve experienced better results with Coola’s Radical Recovery Organic After Sun Lotion which is only $32 for 5oz, so it’s definitely more cost effective & delivered better results in my opinion.

Could double as a sun safe Uruk-hai cosplay
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50+
This sunscreen is amazing. Was in the sun off and on all day. One thing though. Make sure you apply with a mirror in front of you or you may end up walking out the door looking like a Uruk-hai from LOTR. I was in an allfire, trying to get to the fun part of my day, and rushed putting it on. Just as I was about to leave the hotel room I caught myself in the mirror. Complete white hand print on my face where I hadn't rubbed it in well enough. So yeah, works amazing, no sunburn, and needs rubbed in well. LOL

The best sunscreen on the market
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 1), Style: SPF 50+
The best sunscreen I've ever used. I burn super easy, just 30 min outside without protection and I'll be a lobster the next day. I can apply this once in the morning and be protected all day.
Pros:
- Doesn't wear off quickly
- Haven't had a single sunburn since I started using it
- Doesn't have a strong chemical smell
- A little goes a long way
- Resists sweat well
Cons:
- Has a white cast so you really have to rub it in
- It doesn't sit light, you can definitely feel it on your skin
I would recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for sunscreen.
