In this fascinating and informative book, Margaret Maclagan and Anne Buckley - two specialists in children's language development - explain the subtle and extraordinary process in which children learn to talk and the very important role that parents and grandparents can play. Combining a comprehensive understanding of speech development with fascinating scientific facts - did you know that babies cry with an accent? - Talking Baby offers numerous practical suggestions and real-life examples of how parents can best help their children to learn to talk. The authors also provide many ideas for 'talking' topics, as well as ways to use the everyday things in life to encourage children's comprehension and speech. Drawing on their combined 40 years’ experience, the authors also address some of the more commonly asked questions by parents such as: * Why is it that my child can imitate a word accurately but continues to use the wrong pronunciation in his speech? * Do second and other children talk later than first children? * My 18-month-old child isn't saying anything. Should I be worried? * Is it better to use grown-up language to talk to young children than Âbaby talk"? * How early can I start reading to my child? * English isn't my first language. How can I help my children to speak it well? * My child is repeating words a lot, especially when excited- does this mean she's stuttering?

Fun, but fragile
Format: Hardcover
This is a cool book, and my 2.5 year old son LOVES it. However it is important to note that it will be destroyed very quickly. There are lots of flaps and moving parts and it is very easy to accidentally rip them off if you try to move one in a way it's not meant for. I ripped more than 1 myself.

Great for training
Format: Hardcover
I order these for new salespeople and managers who have no construction experience. They think it's a joke until they start going through it.

The Darkness Creates Monsters
Format: Paperback
I really like this dark fantasy comic series.
A long time ago, the world turned into darkness. The sun did not shine any more, and anybody who was in the dark for too long turned into a monster.
Humans still survive. They drive around and live.
The monsters are afraid of light.
The artwork is really really good. Monsters and humans are drawn with excellent detail. You can actually see what's going on. The fight scenes are easy to understand.
Can't wait to read Volume 2.

Excellent
Format: Paperback
This was one of my favorites. It has great world-building, great characters, an interesting worthy antagonist, and great art. The narrative flows naturally with a good mix of action and character development. We know who everyone is, what they're trying to accomplish, and what the stakes are. We're engaged with it never spins its wheels. I'm a reader, not a collector of singles, so I'm looking forward to vol 2.
