Its lack of a swim bladder, which is common in other fish, prevents it from being crushed under immense pressure. Instead, its jelly-like flesh provides buoyancy and resilience.
❃ The blobfish is a bottom-dweller, feeding on small invertebrates and organic matter that drifts down from above.
