This entry to Fish's Exploration series of pedals homes in specifically on a mids-focused exploration (if you will) of classic fuzz tones that breathes life into iconic Muff-style distorted textures. Fish's crack design full of character pushes ahead for a vintage-style fuzz thoroughly in the modern day.
The Fish Circuits Exploration #2 Fuzz features a blissfully simple, classically "Fish" control scheme split between a volume Level control and a mids-shaping Form control. These two highly interactive controls stoke a fuzzy flame with mid frequencies as its main focus. So often, fuzz pedals are only shaped through treble and bass controls – thus making them harder to implement in common live performance settings. The EXPL #2 bucks this tradition with a three-way Form mids control that offers three different shapes of mid bump or scoop to get right down to classic, stoner rock fuzz tacks. Two positions for a mid boost and one for a mid scoop mean the EXPL #2 delivers on more familiar scooped tones alongside interesting boosted ones. The result of all this is a highly expressive and interactive fuzz that follows in line with other Fish Circuits pedals with playability at its core.
