Explore 'Caste and Capitalism in Colonial India' by David Rudner, a groundbreaking work that delves into the intricate relationship between caste systems and capitalism in colonial India. This book provides an in-depth ethnographic and historical perspective, analyzing a South Indian merchant-banking caste and its role within the wider social, economic, and religious frameworks. Rudner’s comprehensive research reveals how noncapitalist economic formations were influenced by colonial rule, affecting indigenous commercial systems. The study emphasizes the interdependence of caste and commerce, highlighting the formal and informal institutions that link these vital aspects of Indian society. It challenges common misconceptions about caste organization, proposing that caste structures are not only compatible with business but crucial to understanding the formation and distribution of capital. This insightful book is a part of UC Press's Voices Revived program, which aims to revive and make accessible scholarly works that have shaped academic discourse since 1893. Perfect for students, researchers, and anyone interested in the intersection of caste, economics, and colonial history, 'Caste and Capitalism in Colonial India' is essential reading for a deeper understanding of these complex dynamics.Shipping Notes

Small yet mighty
I love this wine opener. Its small footprint on my countertop is just perfect. It has a little light when it’s charging and I love the accessories. It’s very nice for its price. I got it before the holidays so I can honestly say it got a lot of use and it’s working like a champ!

Brilliant design and features.
Color: Black
Far better than yesteryears models. Very powerful with a lot of cork torque! The long USB cord is a HUGE plus to reach distant outlets. Charging base is another big plus. Don't forget to see the video of the girl who is promoting it but cannot figure out how to use it!! Hilarious.

Best Wine Opener We’ve Tried
Color: Black
My husband and I like to think of ourselves as wine connoisseurs, and over the years we’ve been through dozens of wine openers. So far, this one is our favorite. It’s pure magic—smooth, easy, and reliable every time. The charging base keeps everything organized. We’ve been using it for several months now without a single issue. It feels well-made and has definitely earned a permanent spot on our counter. It works so seamlessly that now we both want to open the wine.
