RARE DUMLER & BREIDEN ‘STUDIO’ VASE Nr. 61/24This space age vase from the 1970s ( a machine age throwback?) is an especially nifty example of the quirky flavor of some of DMLER & BREIDEN's later forms. The chunky, eight inch tube is flanked by regularly spaced, fluctuating protuberances. The idiosyncracy of the form is offset nicely by the simplicty of the shiny red finish. DMLER & BREIDEN (aka D&B) was founded in 1883 by Peter Dmler (18601907) and his brother in law and childhood friend, Albert

This space-age vase from the 1970s (...a machine-age throwback?) is an especially nifty example of the quirky flavor of some of DÜMLER & BREIDEN's later forms. The chunky, eight-inch tube is flanked by regularly-spaced, fluctuating protuberances. The idiosyncracy of the form is offset nicely by the simplicty of the shiny red finish.

DÜMLER & BREIDEN (aka D&B) was founded in 1883 by Peter Dümler (1860–1907) and his brother-in-law and childhood friend, Albert Breiden (1860–1926), in the town of Höhr-Grenzhausen, about 20 km northeast of Koblenz in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Located in the Westerwald region, the town is set within the Kannenbäckerland—the “potters’ land” or, more literally, the “jug-bakers’ land”—a centuries-old home to ceramics manufacture in central Germany and the site of the largest clay deposit in Europe.) In the early 20th century, DÜMLER & BREIDEN was known mainly for producing beer steins and punch bowls in the typical blue-gray Westerwald style.

Following WWII, D&B gradually established itself as one of West Germany’s leading producers of art pottery. Unafraid to experiment, its potters crafted a vast and often whimsical universe of ceramics throughout the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s. They transitioned effortlessly from traditional folk patterns to the vibrant, rule-breaking motifs of pop art. Many pieces showcased a dazzling, sometimes flamboyant, display of glazes, with vivid reds oozing into electric blues, on quirky forms that felt as much like rebellious sculptures as they did decorative objects. Items produced within the Domino, Polar, and Saturn design series are among the most sought-after by collectors. DÜMLER & BREIDEN closed in 1992.

Notes on identification: D&B most often used white to buff clay, although red clay is seen in the Terra series and in other “klinker”-style items. Marks are almost always impressed and are usually made using a distinctive, square-cut font. A crossed-swords D&B symbol (with the lowercase initials “D” and “B” as stylized hilts) is often present on the base along with the form and size numbers; where the symbol is absent, the form and size numbers are stacked. If an origin is indicated, it is always simply “Germany”—with no “West” designation. The full text “DÜMLER & BREIDEN” replaces the D&B symbol from 1980 onwards. Relief and Studio pieces were marked on the base with the names of those series. Very few items have unmarked bases, and markings are only very rarely obscured by glaze. Factory stickers are most commonly found only on very early items and typically feature the crossed-swords symbol and the factory location, “Hohr.”

Instructions could be clearer, but assembles well and is sturdy
Size: 3 Panel-102"W, Color: Black
The only reason for the lack of a star is the iffy instructions. There are a few different washers and the instructions could make the difference a LOT easier to understand and thereby reduce the need to re-do things. Other than that, the panels were easy to assemble and the parts fit well together. I was able to disassemble the screens and store them for a future use, which is nice. One caution - the feet that make the panels stand up will likely be a trip hazard, so be sure to plan the location for this device carefully.

Awesome product!!!
Size: 3 Panel-102"W, Color: Beige, Size: 3 Panel-102"W, Color: Beige
This thing is really awesome. I actually bought 2 of them and made myself a nice little enclosure to keep out any peeping Toms while I’m trying to work on my summer tan. What I was looking for is FULL privacy and this DEFINITELY provides that. Fabric is completely opaque, you cannot see anything through it which is exactly what I needed. Another huge bonus is the strips of fabric to cover the spaces in between the panels, giving TRUE privacy. This is a really well-made product, great design, great structure, and pretty easy to put together overall. The only downside is that with strong gusts of wind, it wants to tip over so as you can see I secured the bottom feet with a couple bricks to make it stable and that did the trick. But to me that is a minor inconvenience given all its other great aspects. So many other privacy dividers were still see-through… totally defeating the purpose. But this one is absolutely full privacy and PERFECT for what I needed it for!!!

Broke within an hour of assembly.
Size: 6 Panel-120"W, Color: Beige
This is of horrible quality. Within an hour of building, the feet support were broken on both ends, where they spin in place & do not stay straight to hold the divider up. Pieces of the plastic on the feet were broken simply from assembling the product. The covers for the metal poles were the only reason I bought this divider instead of other similar products, however those only cover one side of the metal poles so they are still visible from the other side. Two of these covers were also torn & not useable within an hour of assembly, one was already partially ripped on arrival & the other one was ripped simply during assembly of the product. I do not recommend this item & would have returned if I was still in the return window. I missed the return window because the product was bought during the holidays & I didn’t have time to mess with the return. I have not been able to use this product even once, the broken feet which do not stay in place make it very unstable & dangerous.
