Like Cartoon Vampires is not just an album—it's a sonic rebellion. On their second LP, New Orleans duo The Convenience dive headfirst into a chaotic, electric dreamscape where structure gets torched and noise becomes poetry.

Pressed on vibrant red vinyl, this release is as bold visually as it is sonically, showcasing the band’s complete reinvention from synth-pop sweetness to unfiltered avant-rock madness.

Where their debut Accelerator leaned into funky pop bliss, Like Cartoon Vampires flips the script. Tracks like “Target Offer” and “Fake the Feeling” buzz with jagged feedback and explosive energy, while “Pray’r” and “Rats” slow things down into eerie, minimalist territory. The guitars are spidery and untamed, the rhythms angular and unpredictable—think Pere Ubu with a synth hangover and a distortion pedal addiction.

But don't get it twisted—this isn’t chaos for chaos’ sake. There’s method in the madness. Corson and Troast blend influences from no wave, krautrock, and classical minimalism into something that’s as experimental as it is emotionally raw. Even in the most abrasive moments, their funky instincts and flair for texture remain unmistakable.

Lyrically, the album slashes through late-capitalist alienation with surreal wit. Self-driving cars, designer toothpaste, and spiritual rot—it's all here, wrapped in biting Americana and dreamy detachment. This is a wild, weird ride, and it slaps hard.
