This captivating book challenges the common perception of terrorism as an isolated event, linking it instead to the very fabric of modern societies. As she delves into the complex interplay between state violence and acts of terror, readers will gain a nuanced understanding of how modernity shapes these phenomena. From the Red Brigades to 9/11, and exploring the rise of jihadism and ISIS, Di Cesare's analysis weaves together contemporary examples that enhance our comprehension of terrorism today. For students, scholars, and anyone interested in the philosophical underpinnings of political theory, this book is a critical read. With 208 pages of insightful content published by John Wiley & Sons, it's an essential addition to your library.

Description:
We are inclined to see terrorist attacks as an aberration, a violent incursion into our lives that bears no intrinsic relation to the fundamental features of modern societies. But does this view misconstrue the relationship between terror and modernity? ÂÂ
In this book, philosopher Donatella Di Cesare takes a historical approach and argues that terror is not a new phenomenon, but rather one that has always been a key part of modernity. At its most basic level, terrorism is about the struggle for power and sovereignty. The growing concentration of power in the hands of the state, which is a constitutive feature of modern societies, sows the seeds of terrorism, which is deployed as a weapon by those who are exposed to the violence of the state and feel that they have no other recourseĂ‚Â
As Di Cesare illustrates her argument with examples ranging from the Red Brigades and 9/11 to jihadism and ISIS, her sophisticated analysis will appeal to anyone who wishes to understand contemporary terrorism more deeply, as well as to students and scholars of philosophy and political theory.

Great Look and Fit, Slightly Less Cushion for Long Wear
Size: 10, Color: Cognac
I purchased the Tommy Hilfiger Amile driving style loafers for my husband, and overall he’s very happy with them. The shoes have a clean, stylish look that works well for both casual outings and slightly dressier occasions. They’re easy to slip on and pair nicely with jeans or chinos, which makes them a versatile addition to his wardrobe.
The comfort level is good, especially for short outings and everyday wear, and the design feels modern without being overly flashy. The material and overall construction seem solid for the brand.
The only reason for four stars instead of five is that they could use a bit more cushioning for extended wear, as they’re not the most supportive shoe for long periods of walking.
Overall, a stylish and comfortable loafer that looks great, with just a little room for improvement in all-day comfort.

For slim feet
Size: 13, Color: Black
Had to send both pair back. Nice shoe but their size 12 was to narrow for my feet. Pitty, as they looked and felt great in the box. Got a slender foot? Try these.

Cheap quality
Size: 11, Color: Cognac
I hardly ever leave reviews because most everything is as expected. However these shoes, although they look nice and if you apply a polish they look even better, just aren’t worth it. They are offered at a good price, but don’t live up to even that cost.
As others mentioned the stitching came undone within the 2nd day of use. I had to break out the needle to put the thread back in so they wouldn’t fall apart. That problem fixed didn’t stop the issues. Within a couple more weeks of use the leather started peeling on the tip of the shoes and thus lost all future use.
You would be better off buying a more expensive pair with better quality leather and stitching.
