The compound is available separately for those wishing to use it on their existing strop. In use, the particular part of the moulding most suited to the chosen tool is rubbed crayon-like with compound and the tool stropped. A mirror finish is achieved quickly, and the resulting razor edge can be maintained by repeating the process many times before resharpening is required. I bought this for my husband and looks great! The material is a little clingy, so I would get a one size up for a better fit. He has received numerous compliments. It fit him well and I washed it but played it flat to dry with no shrinkage problems. I highly recommend it. We ordered another one in a different color.
