When hanging towels to dry after washing, if you hold the short edge of the towel and slap it roughly to smooth out the wrinkles, the stitching and pile on the short edge of the towel may come loose after washing.
After washing, a towel will absorb water and weigh 1.5 to 1.8 times its original weight. If you hold the edge of the towel and slap it roughly, the handle will be subjected to several times that amount of pressure, which could cause the pile to tear. Towels are woven, not knitted, so slaps should be avoided due to their structure.
When towels are thick and contain a lot of water, their weight can easily cause them to come loose, so we recommend gently stretching them with both hands after hanging them to dry.
