Discover the gripping account of courage and adventure in 'Alfie's War,' written by Richard Pike. This hardback edition, measuring 156 x 234 mm with 192 pages, brings to life the extraordinary true story of Captain AWF 'Alfie' Sutton CBE DSC RN. Following the dramatic events of 'Seven Seas, Nine Lives,' this sequel dives into the harrowing experiences of a war hero during World War II.In the first part, readers will be drawn into the intense moments aboard HMS Illustrious, where Alfie, after suffering grave injuries from a Luftwaffe bombing, astonishingly awakens among the deceased, yet manages to steer the ship towards safety in Malta. This real-life narrative blurs the lines between history and fiction, illustrating the resilience of the human spirit.
Part two unfolds with Alfie's critical role in the Allied campaign in Greece, culminating in the daring evacuation of the Greek royal family by flying boat. His bravery during the German invasion of Crete in 1941 embodies the essence of valor under adversity, a theme that Admiral Cunningham praised as 'an example of grand personal courage.'

Written in three parts, and as a sequel to "Seven Seas, Nine Lives", Richard Pike continues the remarkable experiences of Captain AWF 'Alfie' Sutton CBE DSC and bar RN.
During events which come as close to fiction as is imaginable, the first part describes how Alfie, badly injured and close to death during the bombing of HMS Illustrious by the Luftwaffe in January 1941, wakes to find himself laid out amongst the dead, but miraculously still able to help the ship on to Malta.
After full recovery, part two starts with his involvement in the Allied campaign in Greece in the spring of 1941, leading to him eventually evacuating the Greek royal family in a flying boat. After numerous escapades he fights with the defenders during the German invasion of Crete in 1941.
Admiral Cunningham was later to describe Sutton's efforts as "an example of grand personal courage under the worst possible conditions which stands out brightly in the gloom."
It was a struggle doomed to failure, but Alfie survived to continue his war and tell his story to author Richard Pike who relates it here with passion, pace and drama.

DO NOT BUY (lasted less than 7 months)
Size: 11, Color: Black, Size: 11, Color: Black
I bought these for work as a bartender in August of 2025. By December, the tops were scuffed, frayed, and peeling beyond repair, and by February, the soles were coming off. I’ve never had a pair of shoes with such low quality.

Most comfortable shoes, right out of the box!
Size: 8.5, Color: Cognac Napa Leather
Oh my! So, my ordering of shoes online has been hit or miss - 1/2 size too big or too small; too wide or not wide enough. Enter these Marc Joseph shoes… such a game changer. They fit like a glove, exceptionally comfortable, and easy to slip in and out of. I like them so much that I am shopping for another pair. So far, the size, quality, fit, feel, look, and comfort make this pair my dedicated first pick. Btw, I have been wearing them for six hours and they are still very comfortable! I highly recommend these shoes.

Finally a comfortable dress shoe. It's both comfortable to walk in and looks and wears like a more traditional dress shoes for the office.

Tropical Fringe Fun for My Summer Outfits
Color: Natural, Color: Natural
I am absolutely obsessed with this straw purse because it feels like a vacation in my hand. The first thing I noticed is how the raffia fringe has this playful half moon shape that looks like a little lion mane but in a very high fashion way. My daughter even joked that it looks like a giant fancy taco which makes it such a fun and unique piece to carry around. It is incredibly lightweight which is a huge relief because I do not want to carry a heavy bag when the weather is hot. Even though it looks compact on my mannequin, it is surprisingly roomy inside and fits my phone and all my daily essentials without feeling stuffed. The magnetic closure is quite strong so I do not have to worry about my things falling out while I am walking around a summer party or a night out.
The neutral tan and cream colors in the fringe make it very easy to match with almost any outfit I own. I really appreciate the small metal brand patch on the front because it gives the bag a more polished and expensive look than a typical straw tote you might find at a souvenir shop. One thing to keep in mind is that the raffia is very textured so you should probably be careful with delicate silk fabrics so it does not snag. It feels very sturdy and well made for something that is woven from grass and I love how the fringe adds so much movement when I am moving around. This bag is definitely going to be my go to accessory for the rest of the season because it is both stylish and very practical for my needs.
