Mesquite Bowl Blank M-1126 1.6" x 4" x 14" 3.3 lbs. This is a shallow and extra long half-log bowl blank of Texas Honey Mesquite. The overall color is the deep reddish brown of Mesquite heartwood surrounded by a thin band of yellow sapwood, with a complete and well-attached dark brown bark on the backside. You have lots of options with this half-log. It could be turned into a series of small bowls, each of them 3.5" or so across. You could also explore turning an elongated or winged bowl or two, since this blank is extra long. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. However, if you want a full bark edge on the "natural" rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This is a classic half-log blank, split through the center of the log. It does have a sliver of pith in it and has a few minor cracks developing. Mesquite is fairly dimensionally stable, so the cracks tend not to develop much compared to other woods. For any that are present, I recommend reinforcing them with CA glue prior to turning. This is a GREEN to partially air-dried bowl blank, meaning that it still retains a lot of its original moisture from when it was a living tree. It has been well-sealed with Anchor Seal and is in the process of slowly drying. It has been heat-treated to eliminate any gnawing critters. It was measured at ~20% MC in May 2022. If you need a current moisture content, please message us and we'll check its status for you. About the Tree This Texas-grown Honey Mesquite tree was harvested in El Campo, Texas in March of 2022. It was cut down by the city for reasons unknown to us, and we were happy to help save the tree from a burn pile. It is possible that this tree was damaged by the Valentine's Day Freeze that Texas suffered in February 2021, which is when our state lost a lot of beautiful trees in an unusually deep and long freeze. You can feel good about this American-grown hardwood being responsibly harvested and turned into beautiful art by YOU. The tree was in healthy growing condition, with a minimum of bug damage and a nice healthy girth to the trunk. There is some minor evidence of fire damage, perhaps from a campfire, near the base of the tree on one side. It may have been in a fairly protected area such as a city park, as the Mesquite is less twisted and gnarly than trees grown in open pastures. The grain looks generally long and straight and of excellent quality for green or dried turning. |

Excellent Product!!! Will purchase again!

Instead of ordering a cover for reclining loveseats, I chose to drape one of these over the headrest on either end of our loveseat. Not only do they protect the leather, they also help to elevate our decor. The rugs were received in a very timely manner. They are super soft, & warming as we move into the winter months. We've had family & friends comment on how great they look. 2 of them have already ordered, & added them to their sofa/loveseat/recliner decor. Have an issue of them slipping, add some velcro in between the crook of the cushion & the back of the furniture piece. It doesn't show & will help to keep the rug in place; if your busy body.!

Perfect for sensory sensitive kids and for the pure beauty of it

After speaking over the phone with the seller, I was confident in this purchase for my SPD son. They do not use harsh chemicals or dyes in the process. It is from New Zealand and the only use in Vietnam is for shipping. My son hasn't been diagnosed yet for Autism but he is in the process. He is super sensitive to all things sensory and Amazon feedback isn't the place to give specific details on his condition but I will write that when he fist touched it- which was willingly- he smiled and asked to sleep on it. When he laid down on it and I covered him- he was calm and smiling. In the pic I provided he is calm and holding his door (his obsession is doors and windows). He even set his door down to hold the fur. For other mommies and papas with spd/autistic kids you know that willingly touching a new fabric and setting down an obsessive item is huge and super encouraging!
I am so grateful to have such a quality item that is affordable for my special needs son. His older sister received one as well as is now pretending to be a sheep. Fun for everyone!
The ONLY negative is that the brand/info sticker on the pelt was a pain to get off and pulled some of the felt - not damaging it but blemishing the unity -but if the skin is down it will not be noticeable.
A super fun detail is that all of the fur is combed out but there were a few strands that were wavy and had a slight curl- I LOVED that.
There was no odor at all which is great! I expected an animal smell which is better than chlorine or dioxin which is what competitors use in their process.
There is no noticeable seam in the middle on the top where the two pelts are gathered.
I am soooo satisfied!

On the fence? This is the sheepskin to get!

I've been reading all the reviews for sheepskins on AMZ and felt this company was the one to go for and WOW did they deliver! The sheepskin came well wrapped but not vacuum packed and is even prettier in person than the pictures. It is super soft, fluffy and dense and mine measured 26" x 40". I absolutely love the wolf tipped colors: ivory, dark grey and a slight brownish hue. There is a slight odor but I don't find it offensive. It stayed put on my leather couch and sitting on it during a Netflix movie was heavenly warm and comfortable. I did not observe any shedding. Will definitely buy another wolf tipped one, once it becomes available as it is worth the money.
