Learn the secrets to selling fiction and memoir, from crafting a first chapter that hooks readers to composing a killer query, and everything in between.

This is an intensive webinar for writers of fiction and memoir. If you're writing a novel or life story, it takes a stunning package to see a book all the way to publication. You have to become more than just a writer, you have to sell your stuff to agents and editors. That's the part most writers have trouble understanding, and that's what this webinar is all about.

In this webinar, we'll discuss, in detail, the tools that a writer uses to sell a novel or memoir, such as voice, a good first page, the query, the elevator pitch, the tagline and more. This webinar will also discuss how to approach agents and editors in person at writing events.

What you'll learn:
  • How to draw an agent into your story in just a few words, whether it's your query, verbal pitch or the first page of your manuscript.
  • What goes into a killer query, from making a connection to an agent, to drafting an exciting pitch that will leave agents wanting more.
  • The importance of a one-sentence tagline that gets a reader excited about your book.
  • What agents look for on that all-important Page 1.
  • How to plan and prepare a verbal pitch of your book so you can meet with agents at writers conferences.
  • What goes into a complete proposal for fiction, and how to know all the tools at your disposal.
  • How agents and editors quickly look over a project and decide if it has the necessary elements to make them request more.
  • How to get your book published!
Speakers

Rachelle Gardner is an agent with WordServe Literary Group, representing both fiction and nonfiction. She has been in the publishing business for fifteen years, with experience in marketing, sales, international rights, acquisitions and editorial. Rachelle is looking to represent authors with long-term publishing potential. She's looking at all genres of adult fiction except fantasy, sci-fi, and erotica, and prefers stories with strong characters and page-turning plots. Currently her favorite genres are contemporary women's fiction, historical romance, and romantic suspense. In non-fiction, she's looking for authors with strong messages (for either a Christian audience or the general market) and significant marketing platforms.

Who should attend?
  • Fiction writers who are writing a book or have a completed project.
  • Memoir writers who are writing a book or have a completed project.
  • Writers who have been rejected and are looking to evaluate and refine their idea, writing or hook to make a project more attractive.
  • Writers who don't yet have a firm grasp of the "business" side of things.

Please note that Rachelle does not accept nor specialize in children's or middle grade literature, and she is only considering limited YA. So while she will likely pass along good advice that can translate to children's and YA, she will not address those genres specifically in this webinar.

I ordered the XS and I have to say they run small. They fit my 2 year old not 6 year old. So size up. But honestly love the quality of Amazon essential shirts. I buy these for my kids pjs they are very soft

Comfy and Cool Shark Shirt
Number of Items: 1, Color: Ivory Sharks, Size: X-Small
We live near the beach, so I love finding ocean themed clothing for my little grandson. He loves this colorful swimming sharks crew neck t-shirt. He says it looks "cool." The cotton blend material is soft and and gentle against his skin. It's breathable and slightly stretchy. . The stitching is straight and consistent with no loose threads. We have fun talking about the different sharks, and the shirt looks great with his everyday jeans, joggers, or shorts. If you want some growing room, I suggest ordering a size up. The 5T is just a little long and roomy in the shoulders for my grandson who usually wears size 4. For laundering, I turn the shirt inside out and wash on cold to preserve the print. I haven't noticed any shrinkage or fading. I've been drying it on a warm setting (though cool is ideal), but I’m pretty careful not to leave it in the dryer too long to avoid wrinkles. He's been wearing it since his birthday in February, and so far, it's kept its shape, and seems to resist stains. If you have a little one that loves sharks, this check out this comfy ocean themed crew neck.

Nice quality for some basic, essential tees. The ratio cotton to spandex makes it very comfortable to wear. Great value.
