Much ink has been spilled over the men of the Mexican Revolution, but far less has been written about its women. Kathy Sosa, Ellen Riojas Clark, and Jennifer Speed set out to right this wrong in their book Revolutionary Women of Texas and Mexico, which celebrates the women of early Texas and Mexico who refused to walk a traditional path. The anthology embraces an expansive definition of the word revolutionary by looking at female role models and subversives from the last century and who stood up for their visions and ideals and continue to stand for them today.

Eighteen portraits provide readers with a glimpse into each figure's life and place in history. At the heart of the portraits are the women of the Mexican Revolution (1910–1920)—like the soldaderas who shadowed the Mexican armies, tasked with caring for and treating the wounded troops. Filling in the gaps are iconic godmothers like the Virgin of Guadalupe and La Malinche, whose stories are seamlessly woven into the collective history of Texas and Mexico. Portraits of artists Frida Kahlo and Nahui Olin and activists Emma Tenayuca and Genoveva Morales take readers from postrevolutionary Mexico into the present.

Each portrait includes a biography, an original pen-and-ink illustration, and a historical or literary piece by a contemporary writer who was inspired by their subject’s legacy. Sandra Cisneros, Laura Esquivel, Elena Poniatowska, Carmen Tafolla, and others bring their experience to bear in their pieces, and Jennifer Speed’s introduction contextualizes each woman in her cultural-historical moment. A foreword by civil rights activist Dolores Huerta and an afterword by scholar Norma Elia Cantú bookend this powerful celebration of women who revolutionized their worlds.

Happy Halloween 2025
The dye is very pigmented which is a plus I just wished the instructions where more clear on how to apply the dye to your hair. I just regret applying the dye first to my hair and then fixing my hair up. When I passed the hair brush to fix my hair some paint came off. So I had to reapply the dye. Luckily I have a little bit of hair so I was able to have extra dye on the can. So if you're reading this. I recommend fixing up your hair first, pass the brush do what you got to do first. And then once you have your hair the way you want it. Spray the hair dye into your hair. It much easier and your hair doesn't get tangled. But other than that the hair dye was a good purchase for me because the value of it and the pigmentation it came with.

Very messy but nice color
Does work but very very very messy. Will stain clothes and anything that touches hair. Will get on ur skin and all over the area u use to spray. I used it on long black hair did color it red but need 2 bottles and because its a spray the whole room got a misting of red/pink. If your temp dyeing hair for anything try a cream or chalk or something else this wasnt worth it given the huge mess ( wear gloves)

Halloween product
This is a very vibrant red. It’s perfect for Halloween or if you wanted to temporarily dye your head red. It washes off easily as well. I definitely recommend it for dressing up on Halloween.

Visible even on dark brown hair
This red hair spray is vivid even on dark brown hair! Perfect for Halloween or dress up days. Can sprays a light mist of color that you can build up for total coverage. Doesn't have a strong smell. Washes out very easily with just shampoo and water! I love that it is easier to use than color gels and the spray makes it easy to get where it needs to be. Color lasted all day for me.
