Cherry Bowl Blank BC347 2.6" x 5.1" x 6.3" 1.4 lbs. This attractive Cherry bowl blank has straight grain and a warm pinkish-brown hue. It has complete bark on the backside. This is a classic half-log blank, split through the center of the log. The heartwood is fine-grained and has no visible porosity. The sapwood has visible porosity and may require a gentle touch turning and finishing. With the bark on the backside, you have the option of turning a conventional bowl or a "barky" natural-edge bowl. The bark on this piece is a bit loose around the edges. If you want to preserve a full bark edge on the natural rim, you will need to secure the bark with CA glue before and possibly during turning. This blank has been air-dried to achieve a moisture content of less than 10%. It is ready for finish-turning. Cheap looking and extremely wide
Looks and feels cheap, made with cheap materials. The shoe is so wide, and even though it has laces that could be pulled tight, there's no way to tie them off and make the shoe fit. The color was exactly as pictured. I had to return them because they flopped around on my feet making them unwearable.
