Compatibility & Fitment
This skewer set is designed for standard "open dropout" bicycle frames. Key fitment details include:
- Front Skewer Length: Approximately 145mmβ150mm total length (standard for 100mm front hub spacing).
- Rear Skewer Length: Approximately 185mmβ190mm total length (standard for 130mm road hubs or 135mm mountain bike hubs).
- Axle Type: Compatible only with hollow hub axles. (Not compatible with "Thru-Axle" systems or solid "Bolt-On" axles).
- Bicycle Types: Mountain Bikes (MTB), Road Bikes, Hybrid Bikes, Cyclocross, and most standard BMX bikes with 9mm/10mm hollow axles.
When to Replace
- Bent or Warped Rod: If the skewer rod is not perfectly straight, it will cause uneven clamping force and can lead to the wheel loosening over time.
- Corrosion and Rust: Significant oxidation on the steel rod can weaken it structurally and make the threaded adjustment nut difficult to turn.
- Worn Cam Mechanism: The lever feels "gritty" or fails to lock with a distinct "snap," indicating the internal cam or the curved plastic washer is worn out.
- Stripped Threads: The M5 threads on the rod or inside the nut are flattened, preventing you from achieving the necessary tension for a safe ride.
- Missing Springs: While the skewer still works without them, missing conical springs make wheel installation frustrating and prone to misalignment.
Installation Tips
- The "Palm Test": When closing the lever, you should feel resistance when it is halfway shut. You should need to use the palm of your hand to fully close it, leaving a slight, temporary impression on your skin.
- Lever Orientation: Always point the front lever upward (parallel to the fork) and the rear lever backward or upward. This prevents them from catching on branches or debris and accidentally opening while riding.
- Spring Direction: Ensure the small end of the conical springs faces inward toward the wheel hub. If they are backward, they will crush and prevent the skewer from tightening correctly.
- Disc Brake Safety: If your bike has disc brakes, ensure the lever is on the opposite side of the rotor (non-drive side) to avoid touching a hot rotor or interfering with the caliper.
- Clean and Grease: Wipe the rod clean and apply a tiny drop of grease to the threads and the cam pivot once a season to keep the mechanism operating smoothly.

It works

Well this product works. At first I thought maybe the Caribbean sun wasnβt as bad as people said since I was in the sun for 4 days wearing this sunscreen and hardly had tan lines, then I tested my theory for 1 day with another brand and got a sunburn. I took star off (would really only do a half if it allowed) for when you go in the water or if you sweat there is a bit of white residue that it leaves.
But for sun purposes, if you want protection, I highly recommend.

Must have on hand in my house!

We love the Aveeno Soothing bath treatment in our house! It works so well when my son is dealing with allergy flare ups, itchy skin or rashes. The oatmeal bath is very calming and gentle on sensitive skin, and helps relieve redness and irritation quickly. After soaking, his skin always feels softer and less irritated. Definitely a must have to keep on hand during allergy season.
