Introducing the Euphorbia enterophora, the fabulous 'cactoid' Euphorbia all the way from Madagascar! This magnificent Euphorbia plant is a true rockstar, quite literally as it thrives on rocks and inselbergs of the central high plateau. In arid regions of the southwest, you can find this spiny forest superstar showing off its resilience.
With its woody base that sprouts upwards like a fearless explorer, this Euphorbia succulent knows no limits when it comes to branching out. Its green branches are flat as ribbons with hardy spines or teeth along the edges – they're practically leafless but still, manage to steal hearts! It transforms into an enormous shrub that can even reach up to an astonishing 65 feet tall.
But Alas, our beloved Euphorbia enterophora faces some serious threats. Habitat degradation and clearing for charcoal have put this superstar at risk. Not to mention horticultural enthusiasts just can't resist collecting them! It produces a cluster of small yellow flowers that bloom from late winter to early spring.
Euphorbia enterophora grows best in a specialized succulent potting mix, needs minimal watering, and prefers full sunlight. It thrives best in the USDA zone 10-11 and typically grows indoors. It can be easily propagated by stem cuttings and seeds from late spring to early summer.
However, we must be cautious around these wonders because their excretion of white milky sap is no laughing matter. Highly toxic and capable of causing skin irritation or severe eye irritation - yikes! So keep your Euphorbias away from curious kids and mischievous pets if you want to stay safe.
