They have side pockets on the thigh and big fleece lined hand warmer pockets on the chest. The trouser legs are big enough to accommodate high hiking shoes or wellington boots easily and they have adjustable cuffs, so they can be tightened snuggly around your shoes. The adjustable braces & belt allow you to adjust them to fit perfectly. The overall cut is closer to normal clothing, but it still allows you to wear warm layers underneath. The zipper construction is well thought and keeps you dry but enables easy relief when nature calls.
