The first time I had shaved ice (NOT a snow cone, they're not the same thing), I was 9 years old and visiting family in Hawai'i. It was November and the weather was just fantastic. We had left the cold and almost-snow of the northeast for the tropics for 2 weeks, and what a time it was. But the shaved ice has stuck with me, and my impression with this yarn was just of that. The way the juice sinks down into the ice, leaving just some of it near the surface, and that it's very often red and orange! It's a bit of a fiery color, though it reminds me of something very cool.
