Yelka - 1976The most unlikely band of the year. YELKA are set to release 10 strictly limited vinyl albums in 3 years with artwork by Kompakt's Bianca Strauch Freytag. And they do so without any kind of social media. Instead they play residencies in Hamburg and Berlin (more international residencies to follow). In strange times, beautiful things happen. People reunite to eventually get back to doing what they've wanted to do all along. This is what was happening

The most unlikely band of the year. YELKA are set to release 10 strictly limited vinyl albums in 3 years with artwork by Kompakt's Bianca Strauch-Freytag. And they do so without any kind of social media. Instead they play residencies in Hamburg and Berlin (more international residencies to follow). In strange times, beautiful things happen. People reunite to eventually get back to doing what they've wanted to do all along. This is what was happening about three years ago, when drummer Christian Obermaier and Daniel Meteo met playing soccer in the Uckermark region of Germany, only to shortly after form a new band with bassist and singer Yelka Wehmeier in Berlin. According to lore, it was above all Meteo's humor that convinced Obermeier. Meteo is known in the past years mainly as the manager of Apparat, music publisher (Random Noize) and label maker (Shitkatapult, The Album Label), Wehmeier most recently as a bassist in the first line-up of Patrick Wagner's band Gewalt, and Christian Obermaier, we had almost forgotten about him, although in the noughties he was one of the most sought-after drummers in the Berlin indie world, playing amongst other in SchneiderTM's band. He and the band's namesake Yelka Wehmeier, in turn, played together in the criminally overlooked Berlin post-rock band EAGLE BOSTON until 2013! YELKA now sounds much more brittle, minimalist. Which might be due to Daniel Meteo's Magic Band-like guitar playing. But also due to the welcome absence of synthesizer pads. Thus, when listening to the first YELKA productions, all the artfully crumbly bands of Post Rock suddenly come back to mind. The Sea & Cake or Karate, for example. But also musical harbingers like Captain Beefheart, Can or the electric Davis between Kraut and Jazz! Fun in the church-A&R Maurice Summen was so enthusiastic about the already recorded material that he spontaneously offered the trio a 10-album deal. So in 2023 alone, three YELKA albums will be released on Fun in the church. (March, June, September). By the end of 2025, all 10 albums should then be released. No wonder they have no time for the Internet beyond that. They'd rather make music, make records, play concerts - and not waste time on that. The band is also planning on regular concert sprees in various European clubs. For each album release in the next few years, they will play as a residency band in the same venues. The first album is titled "Nowhere Jive" and will be released on March 31, 2023.

Better than expected!
I initially got these for the look, but they turned out to be pretty solid sunglasses in thr end. They're comfortable, functional and durable, and I'm always getting compliments on them

very large, but otherwise perfect
Color: Black
Was looking for glacier sunglasses, at a reasonable price, and polarized. I found these and bought 4 pairs, one for each family member, for an upcoming trip. Glass look great! They are lightweight, polarized and have the side shields we needed. But, they are huge! All four must be returned. They don't fit any of us. It's a shame...they are perfect, besides the size. But glacier glasses must fit snugly to the face and these are far, far from our skin.

The Best Sunglasses
Color: Black
I was hesitant to purchase these at first. I'm so glad I did, though. They are light-weight, comfortable, and super stylish. I work in the desert, so the side guards are very helpful in keeping the sand and dust out (not entirely, but they help). I will absolutely purchase again.

Best battery bank I have used so far
Color: Black, Color: Black
Omg I love this thing. Ordered one from Anker and it took a few days to get to me. Loved it so much I ordered two more from Amazon due to shipping speed. I also own the larger version of this with the retractable cable and kept it as my primary battery Bank. The device is small enough to easily fit and comfortably hold in my pocket. It's super fast charges my phone with its retractable cable which is insanely useful. The digital display on it is perfectly designed. I currently use three devices consistently throughout my entire day that require recharging. This battery bank is insanely useful. The difference between this bank and the others comes down to a few things. Really good brand name as Anker has made some really good products over the years. The retractable usb-c cable is absolutely a game changer. The 10,000 mah battery can charge my phone twice before needing to recharged. It's a small cube and for me I can easily just throw it in my pocket or if somebody was to add a metal clip they could just clip it to their clothes and forget about it. I travel a lot so you have no idea how awesome it is to have a device die and simply just plug it in to the bank and continue walking without having to find a power outlet. If I could suggest anything he would be for the brand to conclude a clip that we can use so I could clip it to my backpack. Well that's it
