SAD/SOG: The elite unit was established for tactical paramilitary operations when the US government doesn't want to be directly associated with the mission because it's illegal and immoral (plausible deniability).

SAD/PAG: The separate group is used for covert political influence, economic warfare, and/or psychological operations.

• Established in the 1950s, the SAD played a significant role in the Vietnam War through the controversial Phoenix Program, which targeted Viet Cong members for capture and assassination.
