Discover a groundbreaking perspective on wealth and capitalism in Peter Barnes' thought-provoking book. Published by John Wiley & Sons in 2021, this 140-page hardcover edition challenges the conventional notion that wealth is purely earned through individual effort. Instead, Barnes posits that our present wealth is largely co-inherited from the natural world and the labor of past generations. By introducing the concept of ‘universal property,’ he proposes a revolutionary shift in how we understand and distribute wealth. This engaging read not only critiques the inherent flaws of modern capitalism, which include escalating inequality and environmental degradation, but also offers insightful solutions for a sustainable future. Barnes argues that establishing a system of universal property would protect nature and empower a robust middle class. Ideal for those interested in economics, sustainability, and social equity, this book is essential for anyone looking to rethink capitalism in a post-COVID world. Don't miss out on this enlightening read that could redefine economic discussions for years to come.Note: Shipping for this item is free. Please allow up to 6 weeks for delivery. Description:
We think our wealth today comes from productive corporations and workers, but they merely add icing to a cake baked long ago. In this provocative book, Peter Barnes argues that most of today's wealth is co-inherited from nature and past human efforts, not individually earned. If some of that co-inherited wealth were placed in trust for each of us, living and yet-to-be born “ creating what Barnes calls śuniversal propertyť “ capitalism would be fundamentally transformed.
As Barnes notes, capitalism as we know it has two tragic flaws: it relentlessly widens inequality and destroys nature. Both flaws are a result of one-sided property rights that favor capital over everything else. Adding universal property to the current property mix would create a market economy in which businesses prosper, nature™s limits are respected, and a large middle class thrives. This smart and concise book could set the agenda for a post-COVID world.

Quality suit!
Color: Black, Size: 12, Color: Black, Size: 12
The suit fit my 11 year old son perfectly. He had to dress as Orville Wright for a school biography project. He is lean so it was nice that the pants could be adjusted to fit tighter in the waist.

Fantastic!!
Color: Dark Brown, Size: 10
This is the sharp, classy look you want for your child in a child’s suit! It is a nice true fit with a classy look. My son loves this and he was happy with the fit. He is a picky little guy and I was very happy with his response to the fit. The pants had a little glitch but that's ok! I’m so impressed.
