This is a nice quarter-sawn board of Texas Honey Mesquite. It is the reddish-brown color Mesquite heartwood.
Cut from close to the pith of the log, this board does include the "remains" of 4 old pith-related radial stress-cracks along one side (both photos, left side). Three of the four appear to be more "stains" at the very tail-end of a stress crack, rather than actual open cracks (but this is not certain). The fourth does show a small open crack at the very end of the board, to a depth of approximately 3/4" (near end face, top photo). I see no other cracks, checks or significant flaws.

Very sturdy chew toy
Color: Bacon
My Frenchy loves it! Heβs not a large dog, but big for a French Bulldog. (32 lbs). He chews both ends, but prefers the snout. The eyes are cute, but began to peel off within the first week. I easily removed what was peeling. Half of the paint remained intact. When necessary, I will definitely replace it with the same toy.
