Compatibility & Fitment
- For use with single-phase AC electric motors requiring a start capacitor.
- Suitable for applications including HVAC units, air compressors, well pumps, and other motorized equipment.
- Verify fitment by matching the Mfd/uF, VAC, and Hz ratings of the original capacitor. Physical dimensions should also be checked for proper mounting.
When to Replace
- The motor hums but will not start or turn over.
- The motor starts slowly or requires manual assistance to begin rotating.
- The circuit breaker trips repeatedly during motor startup.
- The existing capacitor shows physical signs of failure, such as bulging, leaking fluid, or cracks in the casing.
Installation Tips
- Disconnect all electrical power to the equipment before beginning service.
- Carefully discharge the existing capacitor by shorting the terminals with a properly insulated screwdriver or a suitable resistor.
- Note or photograph the original wire connections before removal.
- The replacement capacitor's VAC rating must be equal to or greater than the original. Do not use a lower voltage rating.
- The Mfd/uF rating must fall within the range specified by the motor manufacturer.
