Deze ontroerende foto toont een moment van rust voor de bemanning van de tank Sherman V "Clanky", onder bevel van Majoor Dave Currie (VC) van het 29th Reconnaissance Regiment (South Alberta Regiment), ten zuiden van Caen, nabij May-sur-Orne en Verrières, op 28 juli 1944.

Van links naar rechts zijn de soldaten te zien: Tp G Holstrom, Cpl J Lardner en Tp D Mitchell, gefotografeerd voordat ze deelnamen aan een van de meest gedenkwaardige campagnes van de bevrijding van Frankrijk. De Clanky, die symbool stond voor hun eenheid, werd enkele maanden later, op 28 oktober 1944, vernietigd in Bergen op Zoom, slachtoffer van een Canadese granaat die te kort viel. Gelukkig overleefden de bemanningsleden, evenals Major Currie, dit tragische voorval.

Deze afbeelding heeft veel indruk gemaakt en sierde de cover van het magazine Liberty op 16 december 1944, en getuigt van het heldendom en de offers van de Canadese strijdkrachten tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog.
