Het binden van stijgnimfen, ook wel emergers genoemd, behoort tot een specifiek onderdeel van het vliegbinden. In de literatuur over vliegbinden wordt doorgaans weinig aandacht besteed aan dat thema. Toch is zo'n imitatie als aas hoogst interessant. Veel vliegvissers kennen de emergervorm zonder dat te beseffen. Bij het vissen blijkt, dat ze meer dan eens een vlieg aan de leader hebben die drijft als een stijgnimf. Vliegvissers noemen dat een verzopen vlieg. Met natuurlijke materialen, kunststoffen en met behulp van nieuwe bindtechnieken kunnen goed lijkende emerger-imitaties worden gebonden, die niet of nauwelijks zinken. De ontwikkelingen op dit gebied zijn dermate interessant, dat een speciaal emergerboek bij de liefhebber zeker in goede aarde zal vallen. U vindt in dit boek kennis over insecten, bindmaterialen en bindtechnieken, alsmede talrijke bindpatronen. Omdat basiskennis aanwezig wordt geacht, is het boek bedoeld voor de gevorderde vliegbinder. Vliegvisspecialist Wim Alphenaar, bekend van zijn eersteling 'Vliegbinden en Vliegvissen' gaat in zijn tweede boek uitgebreid in op het vissen met de stijgnimf in al zijn aspecten. Maar de nadruk in dit boek wordt vooral gelegd op het vervaardigen van deze specialistische kunstaasvorm. In een negental hoofdstukken belicht de auteur werkelijk ieder aspect van het binden en vissen met de stijgnimf. Het geheel is voorzien van een overdaad aan tekeningen en foto's. Dat deze uitgave bedoeld is voor de specialisten onder de sportvissers mag duidelijk zijn.
