Tijdens de bijna 100-jarige geschiedenis van de wijnmakerij Casa Ermelinda Freitas speelden vooral de vrouwen van de familie Freitas een sterke rol. Het huis werd in 1920 door Deonilde Freitas opgericht. Haar dochter Germana en kleindochter Ermelinda Freitas volgden haar op. Vandaag is het Leonore Freitas, dochter van Ermelinda en achterkleindochter van de oprichter, die de vierde generatie is die het wijnhuis leidt. Lange tijd bleef het beperkt tot de verkoop van pure vatwijn, en pas in 1997 begon Leonore haar eigen wijn te bottelen en deze zelf op de markt te brengen. Het succes kwam al snel en bewees haar gelijk. Leonore begon met 60 hectare wijngaarden in Fernando Po, een regio rond Palmela. Alleen de druivensoorten Castelao en Fernao Pires werden daar geplant, maar de komende jaren breidde het zowel het variëteitenspectrum als het areaal uit. Naast regionale wijnstokken zoals Touriga Nacional en Alicante Bouschet, introduceerde ze ook internationaal bekende variëteiten zoals Syrah. Tegenwoordig heeft de wijngaard 140 hectare wijngaarden, het grootste deel zijn rode druivensoorten, slechts ongeveer tien procent is beplant met witte variëteiten. Alleen het beste sap is goed genoeg voor de wijnen van Casa Ermelinda Freitas. Daarom worden de druiven past geoogst als deze perfect rijp zijn. Daarna volgt een strenge selectie. My Heels Were in Bad Shape. Like… Really Bad

These moisturizing heel socks with the gel cushions were honestly a small miracle for me.
After recovering from cancer treatments, my skin became extremely dry everywhere, but my heels were the worst. They cracked so deeply they looked like fissures and were even bleeding. I tried lotions and bandages repeatedly with very little progress.
A friend suggested I treat my heel like it might have a fungal component, so I applied Lotrimin cream, put these heel socks on, and hoped for the best. Within three days, my heels were fully healed. I completed a 7-day routine, and my feet have never been softer.
The silicone gel cushion is comfortable, soothing, and stays in place. I loved it so much that I still treat myself about once a week, even though I really don’t need to anymore.
They are also washable. I hand-washed mine in the sink and let them air dry, and they came out looking brand new.
If your heels are cracked, painful, or need serious care, I highly recommend these.

These worked for me!

They worked great. I bought these for cracked sore heels. It took 2-3 weeks but my heels no longer hurt and the cracks have closed and look more like an indention than a crack now. They feel so much better, but I'll probably wear them another week just to be sure they stay healed. They look and feel like regular socks from the outside but only cover the heel with the toe open. Not think but not thick, again like regular socks. They would probably be slippery on a smooth surface the same as socks. The inside feels like rubber or something smooth at the heel. I have washed them once each pair and accidentally dried one pair in the dryer. They still seem to feel the same so I think they're fine. They're pretty inexpensive and had different colors and sizes.
