    De Morus alba ‘Giant Fruit’, ook wel witte moerbei, is met zijn karakteristieke vertakkingen een sierlijke boom om te zien. Een opvallend kenmerk van de moerbei zijn de witte bloemen in het voorjaar. Daarna zijn de vruchten eerst groen, dan rood en bij volledige rijpheid zwart-rood. Je kan ze goed vergelijken met frambozen en smaken licht zoet. Moerbeien bevatten veel vezels, vitaminen en antioxidanten. Je kan ze vers eten, drogen of als jam en sap verwerken. De moerbeiplant is goed winterhard. De bloeiperiode is in mei en juni. 

    Verzorging
    Snoeien van de Morus Alba ‘Giant Fruit’ is meestal niet nodig wegens de zwakke groei de eerste jaren. Indien gewenst, kan je toch een lichte snoei toepassen: vruchttwijgen kan je op 4 - 5 ogen terugsnoeien.

    Kijk een beetje naar de boom, haal de kleine onderste takken eruit en verwijder grote takken die de vorm zouden bederven. Houd de kroon open waardoor er licht in kan komen. De snoeitijd is tussen december en februari.

    Hoe ziet mijn moerbeiplant er precies uit?
