Qatar is een financiële grootmacht die wereldwijd investeert in de bankwereld, de auto-industrie, de vastgoedsector, het wetenschappelijk onderzoek, de kunst en de media. Én in sport, om zich te profileren op de wereldkaart. 2016: wereldkampioenschap wielrennen; 2019: wereldkampioenschap
atletiek; 2022: wereldbeker voetbal. Met corruptie als breekijzer bij de toewijzing van deze evenementen, die plaatsvinden in een woestijngebied waar tijdens de zomermaanden de temperatuur kan oplopen tot 50 graden Celsius.

Twee miljoen arbeidsmigranten uit onder meer Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka en de Filipijnen knappen het vuile en harde werk op in onmenselijke omstandigheden. Moderne slaven die sportstadia, luxehotels, winkelcentra, vergaderzalen en musea optrekken, waar topsporters, internationale kunstenaars, vooraanstaande wetenschappers en schatrijke toeristen achteloos hun ding doen. Decadentie ten top.

Qatar is bevriend met de VS, Frankrijk en Groot-Brittannië, maar promoot ondertussen de meest radicale islam, steunt de Moslimbroeders en financiert stiekem IS. Dit pamflet toont het ware gelaat van de autoritaire en gevaarlijke golfstaat: tussen decadentie en corruptie.

Pampers Baby Dry are actually good again! Major upgrade.

I’ve used Baby Dry off and on for a while, but the new “improved” version is a huge step up from the old design. They used to feel kind of generic, thin, boxy, and not great for active toddlers, but now they’re a real contender next to Swaddlers and Huggies Little Movers. What’s new: • The shape is much more like Swaddlers, snugger around the hips and legs, less floppy in the front. • Tabs are noticeably stronger and stretchier. • The inside has a new ultra cushiony top layer that feels soft and plush, not papery. • They seem to have a slightly faster and more even absorbency, too. • Still the same cute Sesame Street prints and blue inner layer, but the overall fit and quality feel more “premium.” Size-wise, the new Baby Dry run a bit larger than Huggies size 3 but a touch smaller than Swaddlers size 3 so a great in-between fit. For parents like us who can’t use 360-style pull-ons at daycare, these are perfect. They have tabs, fit toddlers well, and hold up to big pees without the sag or stiffness the old Baby Dry had. Bottom line: a big win for Pampers these finally feel like a proper toddler diaper, not an expensive generic. Highly recommend giving them another try if you haven’t used them recently!
