Alle helden moeten zich bewijzen! In Tales of Glory spelen de spelers opkomende helden. Elke beurt vertegenwoordigt een jaar in het leven van de helden, en elke speler beslist wat zijn held dat jaar heeft gedaan (een monster verslagen, een schat geplunderd, mensen ontmoet, enz.) om te proberen glorie te verwerven. Na tien beurten wint de speler met de meeste roem.

Elke beurt kiezen de spelers tegelijkertijd een zoektocht die ze willen doen uit een gemeenschappelijke pool. Ze moeten dan de kosten van de queeste betalen en deze op hun "levenspad" plaatsen, verbonden met een andere queeste die ze al gedaan hebben of hun vertrekgebied.

Sommige zoektochten, zoals het doden van monsters, leveren direct roempunten op, terwijl andere worden beïnvloed door wat spelers eerder hebben gedaan of daarna zullen doen op hun levenspad.
