Mina de Oro Viognier van wijnhuis Luzon is een honderd procent Viognier wijn die op het vat fermenteert en rijpt. Deze Viognier druiven zijn afkomstig van de voedzame wijngaarden in Jumilla. Bodega Luzon is hier een van de belangrijkste producenten en een van de meest historische. Ze produceren al sinds het einde van de negentiende eeuw kwaliteitswijnen.

De oude wijnmakerij Luzon

Jumilla ligt ten zuidoosten van Spanje in de regio Murcia en het klimaat is continentaal dankzij de Middellandse Zee. Warme dagen, regen en koude nachten wisselen elkaar af en zorgen voor mooie rijpen druiven met een uitstekende zuurgraad. Voor het begin van dit wijnhuis moeten we terug naar 1841. Don José de Molina was een legerdokter die werkte op het Filipijnse eiland Luzon. Na lange tijd keerde hij terug naar zijn geboortegrond Jumilla en noemde het Finca Luzon noemt. Hij richtte de wijnmakerij op voor zijn dochter. De oude wijnmakerij werd sindsdien grotendeels geleid door vrouwen. Sindsdien worden er moderne wijnen met veel fruit geproduceerd. Waarbij er grotendeels gebruikt wordt gemaakt van de voor Jumilla typerende druifsoort Monastrell. De Viognier druiven worden in de nacht met de hand geoogst. Nadat de druiven naar de wijnmakerij zijn gebracht worden ze ontsteeld en zachtjes geperst. De wijn wordt vervolgens overbracht naar roestvrijstalen tanks waar de vergisting spontaan begint. Hierna wordt de wijn verplaatst naar gebruikte Franse eikenhouten vaten waar de vergisting wordt afgerond. De wijn rijpt hierin vervolgens sur lie. Dit proces geeft de wijn extra romigheid en complexiteit.

Deze Luzon Mina de Oro Viognier kleurt goudgeel in het glas met een aromatische geur van bloemen en abrikozen, mango en perzik. Het is een romige wijn met een volle en ronde smaak. Dankzij de houtlagering zijn er ook wat houttonen te vinden in de smaak. Dit alles zet door in een frisse afdronk. Deze wijn laat zich goed combineren met een gebakken roodbaars.

So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. Arben was my favorite, although it was a bit sudden how quickly he changed from ignoring her to wanting to be pack. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books. The only thing that detracted from the story for me was the need for a bit more proofreading. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.
