De Belgian Owl Single Cask Cask Strength Black Intense Whisky 69% is een zeer krachtige whisky die wordt geproduceerd in België. Dit land staat niet direct bekend om zijn whiskyproductie, waardoor de Belgian Owl extra bijzonder en geliefd is bij bier- en whiskyliefhebbers van over de hele wereld.

Deze single malt whisky wordt geproduceerd door The Owl Distillery, gevestigd in de provincie Henegouwen in het zuiden van België. Het bedrijf werd opgericht in 2004 en begon in 2005 met de productie van zijn eerste whisky. Sindsdien heeft het een goede reputatie opgebouwd en verschillende prijzen gewonnen voor zijn whisky's.

De Belgian Owl wordt geproduceerd volgens de traditionele Schotse methode. Het is een single malt whisky, gemaakt van 100% gerst. De gerst wordt geweekt in water, gemout en gedroogd boven turfrook voor een karakteristieke rooksmaak.

Na het mouten wordt de gerst gemalen en vermengd met warm water om een beslag te maken. Dit beslag wordt in grote roestvrijstalen tanks gedaan, waar gist aan wordt toegevoegd voor het fermentatieproces. Na 2-3 dagen is de wash, met een alcoholpercentage van 8-10%, klaar.

De wash wordt vervolgens gedistilleerd in koperen pot stills, waarbij de alcohol wordt gescheiden van de rest van de vloeistof. De new make spirit, met een alcoholpercentage van ongeveer 70%, wordt vervolgens gerijpt in eikenhouten vaten.

De Belgian Owl wordt gerijpt in een enkel vat, wat betekent dat elke fles afkomstig is van een uniek vat en dus een unieke smaak heeft. Het rijpingsproces is een belangrijk onderdeel van het whiskyproductieproces, omdat het de smaak
