Vent d’Ange 2022 is een uitgesproken terroirgedreven Chablis met een combinatie van rijpheid en messcherpe precisie. In de neus vind je citroenschil, groene appel, witte perzik en witte bloesem, aangevuld met rokerige vuursteen en een duidelijk krijtachtig, zilt accent. In de mond is de wijn gelaagd en energiek: een diepe kern van citrus en steenfruit, levendige zuren en een stevige, minerale structuur die de wijn lengte en ernst geeft. De afdronk is lang, strak en zuiver, met een bijna saline spanning die typisch is voor grote Chablis.

Vinificatie.
De druiven worden met de hand geoogst van eigen wijngaarden op kimmeridgische bodems. Na zachte persing vergist de most met inheemse gisten, met minimale interventie en een zeer beperkte toevoeging van sulfiet. De wijn krijgt een uitzonderlijk lange opvoeding op de fijne lies van ongeveer 30 maanden, waarbij het grootste deel in cuve rijpt en een kleiner deel in neutrale vaten voor extra textuur. Na botteling volgt nog flesrust zodat de wijn zijn spanning en complexiteit mooi integreert voor vrijgave.

Het domein.
Domaine Pattes Loup is het project van Thomas Pico, een van de meest eigenzinnige en gerespecteerde namen in Chablis. Hij werkt kleinschalig en uiterst precies, met een sterke focus op oude stokken, lage opbrengsten en een natuurlijke aanpak in de kelder. De wijngaarden worden biologisch beheerd met veel aandacht voor bodemleven en biodiversiteit, en de wijnen worden bewust laat gebotteld na lange rijping om meer diepte, complexiteit en bewaarpotentieel te krijgen. Vent d’Ange is daarvan een schoolvoorbeeld: een village Chablis met het karakter en de sérieux van een veel hoger niveau.

Overall this is a very good product

I bought this because every sunblock I own eventually gets in my eyes and burns the living daylights out of them. I prefer to use something that isn't laden with chemicals, is cruelty free and reef safe so this looked like it would fit the bill and indeed, it does. It is a true "no tears" formula which I very much appreciate. As with so many zinc based sunblocks there's still a slight "Kabuki mask" effect but it isn't as bad as some of the other zinc products. I wouldn't go so far as to say it's easy to spread because it doesn't have a lot of "slip", doesn't glide like the non-zinc products. You do have to work with it for awhile to get rid of the decidedly chalky consistency but once you get going it seems to be okay. I think somebody else mentioned using a moisturizer before you put it on which seems like good idea even though this is supposed to be moisturizing. Would I purchase this again? I'm pretty sure I will because the "no tears" aspect of the product is important to me. I'll probably use it with a light carrier oil on my face first, let that oil sink in and then put this on top.
