De Gouden Eeuw in 500 portretten, taferelen & analyses geeft een levendig beeld van deze unieke periode aan de hand van meer dan 500 bijdragen, geschreven door meer dan 130 specialisten, die alle terreinen bestrijken: van slavenhandel tot Bijbeluitleg, van koloniën tot schilderkunst, van oorlogen tot kaasmakerij, van overstromingen tot scheepsbouw, van schaatsen tot de radicale Verlichting. Beknopte biografieën van filosofen, kunstenaars, historische figuren en vooraanstaande families, en geschreven portretten van de belangrijkste Nederlandse steden, maken dit kleurrijke portret van de Gouden Eeuw compleet. Elke bijdrage gaat vergezeld van een schitterende, soms paginagrote, kleurenafbeelding. Ook zijn speciaal voor het boek nieuwe, op de laatste stand van de wetenschap gebaseerde kaarten getekend. Een meer up-to-date en omvattend beeld van de Gouden Eeuw is de komende decennia niet te verwachten. Deze uitgave bestaat uit twee banden. Willem Frijhoff (1942) is emeritus-hoogleraar moderne geschiedenis van de Vrije Universiteit te Amsterdam en gasthoogleraar cultuurgeschiedenis aan de Erasmus Universiteit te Rotterdam. Hij was aan meerdere Europese universiteiten verbonden, is eredoctor van de universiteit van Bergen (Henegouwen) en lid van de Academia Europaea. Catherine Secretan (1950) was als onderzoekster verbonden aan het wereldberoemde Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) en is auteur van talrijke bijdragen over de ideeëngeschiedenis van Nederland, en laureaat van de Académie des Sciences morales et politiques en van de Frans-Nederlandse Descartes-Huygensprijs. Andreas Nijenhuis-Bescher (1972) is sinds 2018 werkzaam aan de Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Seoul (Zuid-Korea), na lange tijd aan universiteiten in Frankrijk verbonden te zijn geweest. Hij is hoogleraar Dutch Area Studies. INDESTRUCTIBLE MY DOGS FURRY A@$!!

Let me be completely clear with you all and state that I did NOT go into this purchase honestly believing that the toy would never break or tear. Everything breaks at some point or another. Now that being said, should the company use the word INDESTRUCTIBLE? 🤔 No, absolutely not! One day, that's how long this "indestructible" toy lasted. In less than 24hrs the neck was fully detached from the torso. After the complete non-aggressive decapitation things began to get messy. The head has three broken seams and the torse has four. The stuffing for the toy took longer to pick up and vacuum than the actual toy lasted intact. My dog is not a chewer. He adores playing TuggaFetch(a little light game of tug of war with a nice round of go fetch all in one session). That this toy couldn't even make it a week is sad, but the fact that it couldn't stay intact for less than a day is utterly pathetic and laughable! If your pooch loves to just sit and stare at his/her toys and not play with them then this product is perfect and ideal for your dog! Everyone else, sorry but you gotta keep looking. I feel like I paid this company to force me to vacuum my tv room 5 times in an 8 hour time span. 😩
