A singular work of lacquer art, the AP Limited Editions Urushi Lacquer Art Fountain Pen – Vermillion Divide presents a poised dialogue between luminous vermilion and deep black. The composition is spare and exacting: a crisp boundary draws the eye while multiple layers of cured urushi build a quiet, inner glow. As a Piece Unique, this pen stands as a one-of-one expression from AP Limited Editions—purposefully created to be held, contemplated, and used.

Craftsmanship & Design

Urushi, derived from the lacquer tree, is applied in successive, whisper-thin layers and cured between applications to develop its characteristic depth and resilience. On this pen, the warm vermilion field meets a black expanse with intentional precision, creating a clean, architectural divide that accentuates proportion and silhouette. Under changing light, the lacquer reveals subtle tonal shifts and a refined luster, the result of careful hand-finishing and controlled polishing. The design’s restraint allows the material itself to speak—showcasing the quiet radiance and durability that have defined fine lacquerwork for centuries.

Writing Experience

A 14k gold nib delivers a confident, softly expressive line with dependable flow. Offered in extra fine, fine, medium, and broad, it suits everything from detailed annotations to generous, signature-worthy strokes. The cartridge/converter filling system provides day-to-day practicality and the freedom to explore bottled inks with ease. Together, the supple character of gold and the balanced heft of a lacquered instrument create a reassuring, unforced rhythm on the page.

Provenance

AP Limited Editions is recognized by collectors for advancing contemporary urushi and lacquer artistry on writing instruments. The brand’s one-of-a-kind creations—like the Vermillion Divide—underscore a commitment to purposeful design and artisanal technique, bringing time-honored materials into a modern collector context. This Piece Unique reflects that philosophy: an object of contemplation with genuine utility at the desk.

Great weird horror
Format: Kindle
The Department of Truth: The End of the World is the first trade volume of this series, collecting issues 1-5. I don’t want to get into spoilers, but I enjoyed seeing a world building element I was familiar with in fantasy be applied to conspiracy theories. I also loved the art. It’s really stunning! I almost want to buy a print edition in addition to my Kindle/ComiXology edition because it’s so beautiful. I found the plot and concept compelling and can’t wait to read volume 2.

meh...
Format: Paperback
collecting the entire universe, so obviously i picked this up. i absolutely LOVE the stuff written by Ryan Parrott, but it seems like the some of the side stories were just thrown into the universe for the sake of 'diversity'. identity politics is injected into BOTH of the books in this series (that i have read so far... im somewhere in the middle of year two) that were written by Melissa Flores, for no reason except projection, propaganda and forced diversity quotas. the book isnt even an extreme offender or anything, but the 'community' has caused so many problems, in ever facet of society that they have attached themselves to, that i (and so many others) now see any of it as huge red flag... and that is sad, because i was raised to have the EXACT opposite viewpoint, and i did, for well over 30 years (just turned 40).
