What you'll learn
You'll start by learning how to use paper resist to mask off areas of your design. You'll practice cutting and tearing resist shapes, layering colors, and building up your design through multiple applications. You'll finish by learning what happens in the kiln and how to think about your glaze choices in relation to the colors and contrast you've created.
What's included
All materials are included: a bisque piece to work on, slip, carving tools, and firing. Once your piece completes its final firing, you'll be notified when it's ready for pickup. Shipping can also be arranged during the class.
Who this is for
No pottery experience needed. If you've ever wanted to make something decorative and handmade but aren't ready to commit to a full course, this is a great place to start. It's also a good fit for anyone who's thrown before and wants to explore surface decoration.
What to wear
Clothing and shoes you're comfortable getting clay and slip on. Aprons are provided, but clay has a way of finding everything anyway.

Completing any pottery class makes you eligible to join The MixMatch as a studio member, giving you access to our wheels, tools, and kiln time on your own schedule. It's the natural next step for anyone who wants to keep building their skills between classes. Ask your instructor or the front desk for details on how to get started.

Additional Information:Β All supplies and tools are included, and no previous experience is necessary. Some workshops may involve heat, sharp tools, or other specialty materials, so participants must be 18 or older unless the class notes otherwise.
