Hugh Walpole, better known for his famous "The Herries Chronicle", was a member of the Britain Literary Royalty, a protΓ©gΓ© of authors of the caliber of Henry James and Arnold Bennett, and his novels are still highly appreciated.
Ernest Hemingway wrote into a short story a comparison of G K Chesterton and Walpole, concluding that the former was the better man, the latter a better writer and both were classics.
