Moderate – open

Ideal for large-bore instruments where fast response is desired. The narrow rim provides remarkable flexibility and the cup has adequate depth necessary for good tone. The sound is therefore brighter than 44/48/50/88 mouthpieces. Funnel shaped cup, moderate depth. Medium sharp inner rim, rounder outer edge.

This is a design similar to the new Andreas Martin Hofmeir “Paul” model F tuba mouthpiece, but with the heavier standard Tucci mouthpiece shape. It's a fairly open blow, but is even in all registers and soars in the high range.  The RT-40 is a revolution for large-bore rotary-valve F-tubas.  The cup diameter of 32.00 mm is the same as that of our proven models such as the RT-64 and RT-65. In contrast, the cup is deep and elongated, with a mild transition into the throat. The rim is narrow, with a clearly pronounced inner edge. The throat bore, 8.7 mm, is exceptional for an F-tuba mouthpiece.  The result is a amazingly full and resonant sound, a particularly good low register, balanced intonation and easy high register.  Make the “German Orchestral F-Tuba Sound” part of your life.  Available in two shank sizes: RT-40S small shank and RT-40 large shank.

Moderate

Provides substantial fundamental and a colorful sound. It gives good projection to larger instruments. Fast response and flexibility make this an excellent mouthpiece for BBb or CC tubas. The shallower cup as compared to larger models is compensated by a larger bore. Medium large cup depth, funnel shaped. Rounded inner rim edge and sharp outer edge.

Heavy Shell

Based on the classic Helleberg concept yet wider than standard mouthpieces. The rim is enhanced for quick response and clarity. The sound is dark with a broad core. Excellent for medium-large and large-bore CC and BBb tubas. Deep pear-shaped cup. Rounded inner and outer rim edges. The 48 and 50 are available in standard, and heavy shell plus (+) versions. Plus (+) models incorporate modified cup and bore specifications as well as additional shell weight for unprecedented stability and projection.

Heavy Shell

Large and deep cup. The clearly defined inner rim aids articulation and tonal clarity. This mouthpiece combines high dynamic range with fast response. It aids low register playing while still enabling a good upper register. It is recommended for advanced players who prefer a truly large mouthpiece. Deep funnel shaped cup. Flat rim with sharp inner edge. The 48 and 50 are available in standard, and heavy shell plus (+) versions. Plus (+) models incorporate modified cup and bore specifications as well as additional shell weight for unprecedented stability and projection.

Provides fast response, a lively and exciting sound with a clear core and excellent projection. The tone has a commanding nature for solo performances. It is a first choice for execution of high range orchestral literature. Produced for over 40 years, this is one of the most popular F tuba mouthpieces ever made. Moderately shallow cup, bowl shaped. Rounded rim with well defined inner contact point.

RT-88

BBb/CC

Open

The cup of the 88 is wider, yet not quite as deep as that of the 50. The sound has great strength and depth combined with huge dynamics over a wide range. The middle and low register benefit from the cup volume. The high register is secure yet mellow sounding.

Bio of Robert Tucci

Robert "Bob" Tucci once indicated that he had the good fortune of being able to look back on sixty years of a life with and for the tuba, his first love. Serious study began in 1955 as a student of Harold McDonald, tubist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra from 1952-1983. This continued in 1958, with Arnold Jacobs in Chicago. To this day he „remains a student of Arnold Jacobs.

In 1960 and due to a recommendation by Mr. Jacobs he became a member of the Louisville Orchestra, continuing studies at the School of Music of the University of Louisville. In 1962 he relocated to Vienna, became first a member of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, later tubist of the Orchestra of the Vienna State Opera and the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

Within a few short months he moved from an American orchestra famous for its Commissioning Series, to premiere and record twentieth century music by living composers, to one of great centers of traditional European culture and music. The young tuba player who once had a concert band audience smiling when he missed the opening note of the R. Strauss Concerto No. 1 for Horn found himself looking at Herbert von Karajan, Karl Boehm, Paul Kletzki, Josef Krips, George Solti, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Zubin Mehta along with many others.

From 1966-69 he served with the United States Army Field Band, played most of the 1969-70 season with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, and returned to Europe thereafter. In 1971 he joined the orchestra of the State Theatre in Kassel, followed in 1972 by a position at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.

Munich and the Bavarian State Opera became his home. Over the years he performed with the Berlin Philharmonic, the Munich Philharmonic, the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, the Berlin Radio Symphony, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the Hamburg Opera and Philharmonic, the State Orchestra of Baden-Wuerttemberg and the Symphony Orchestra of the South German Radio in Stuttgart, the orchestras in Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Chemnitz, Augsburg, Ulm, Regensburg, Innsbruck, Zurich, the Salzburg Festival, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva, the Orchestra of the Arena di Verona, at La Scala in Milan, the Orchestra Nationale Santa Cecilia, the Cleveland Orchestra along with studio recording, brass quintets and ensembles including Summit Brass. He always said that he had much for which to be grateful.

Wolfgang Sawallisch and Zubin Mehta went on to become General Music Directors of the Bavarian State Opera, from 1972-93 and 1996 to 2006 respectively. During the 1985-86 season the Bavarian State Opera presented all thirteen of Richard Wagner's opera, four complete "Ring" cycles included, as well as all twenty-three operas, eighty-six performances, and most of the symphonic music by Richard Strauss. Bob once referred to Wolfgang Sawallisch as his "General Music Director for Life".

Bob Tucci enjoys close cooperation with leading manufacturers, to develop Perantucci brass wind instruments and mouthpieces, lines that have become the equipment choice for thousands of musicians worldwide.

Bob never felt that being a tuba player in some of Europe's finest orchestras was something special. In Germany alone there are over one hundred fulltime professional orchestras, each with a tuba player, some with two. There are countless other American musicians who have or had similar careers in Europe. Arnold Jacobs often referred to his chair in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as "The Best Seat in the House". That is how Bob felt, having the opportunity to listen to great orchestral string sections, unique instrumental artists and in particular, to most of the great vocal artists of the second half of the twentieth century. For someone who grew up in a Western Pennsylvania coal-mining town, that was truly "The Best Seat in the House".

Pretty good suit
Size: X-Small, Color: Beige
These suits are great. My groomsmen wore them and everyone looked so sharp. They may need to be tailored to get a good fit for some persons though

Gets the job done.
Size: Large, Color: Deep Blue, Size: Large, Color: Deep Blue
Better than I expected (for a last minute buy). Looks great after I steamed it. Not the most durable, but a solid piece for the price. Thick and breathable material. I’m a 42R and the fit was perfect with no alterations needed.

Great fitting suit!
Size: X-Small, Color: Deep Grey (Stretch Fabric)
If you’re 5’8” 145lbs this review may help! I’m 12-14% BF, range 142-150lbs, 28-30” waist. I wear 30” inseam for pants, 40R suit but can fit 39R, 15/32 slim fitted dress shirts, small to medium fitted T shirts. I love the fit of the suit. The grey color and the texture of the fabric could be a little better. Seems the fabric isn’t a solid consistent look. A little textured I suppose. The jacket fits well and I love the stretch fabric for the armpit area. Makes it easy to put on and move around while giving a good fit. I think a little bit more room in the shoulders would be nice. The cut is a little off for me in the back of the jacket by the neck area. The vest seemed a little large but has an adjustable strap in the back. For the jacket pockets, you’ll have to carefully cut and pull the threads at the opening since they are sewn shut. I did notice a little wrinkling to the side front near the serratus. Could be the cut. For me if it was a little roomier by chest and tappered in more it would fit better. The joint where the sleeves meet the shoulder are OK. There are some wrinkles there due to imperfection with stitching. The sleeves come down past my wrist a little. My arm-span is square with my height for reference. If you have big biceps it might be a little tight. The pants fit perfectly for me. Good length with no excessive break when not wearing shoes. There’s some excessive break when wearing higher profile shoes. The stretch waist is nice for when you decide to eat and drink too much and still comfortable while sitting. I’ve not found a slim fitted suit like this before. Comfortable to dance around in also. If you have thick thighs it might feel a little tight. Wore the suit to a wedding and it was great. Can’t really complain for the price. Good luck!

Tie color, general review
Size: Small, Color: Grey
Great quality, love the thickness of the suit wearing it in the summer it wasn’t hot. Nice buttons, love the small extra gift. Would prefer a neutral colored tie that could go with anything rather than the red and white striped they offered with the suit. Pants fit a bit bigger, had to adjust it to my measurements but, all by all a good purchase!

Nice material, stitching. Fit was unorthodox.
Size: Small, Color: Light Grey (Stretch Fabric)
putting on the suit for the first time, pants first, I thought that I had gotten a steal of a deal! The fabric was of good quality, had a good amount of stretch and was just long enough for my long legs. (typically wear a 32/34, but cuff the jeans once). It was the top section that I had an issue with. The shape of the shoulder-to-neck area was very pointed. As someone that has almost no trap muscle, this meant extra fabric that sagged on the my shoulders and gave me an unkempt look and I'm not sure this is something that a tailor can fix easily. If you have a little more beef up top, this would probably work for you. I wish it would have fit differently because I was impressed by the quality.
