The idea to create this wonderfully elegant piece was spawned a few years ago while Patrick was on a grouse moor in Yorkshire. It was a crisp, cold morning when Patrick spied a pair of grouse scratching amongst the heather ahead of him.
In trying to get a better view of the birds, he startled them and they immediately crouched low to the ground. The cock bird sensed someone was watching them and stretched his neck up as high as possible to get a better view over the heather. The hen bird, still uneasy, remained low to the ground. Patrick has mimicked that scene faithfully.
