The War in Words is the first book to study the captivity and confinement narratives generated by a single American war as it traces the development and variety of the captivity narrative genre. Kathryn Zabelle Derounian-Stodola examines the complex 1862 Dakota Conflict (also called the Dakota War) by focusing on twenty-four of the dozens of narratives that European Americans and Native Americans wrote about it. This six-week war was the deadliest confrontation between whites and Dakotas in Minnesota's history. Conducted at the same time as the Civil War, it is sometimes called Minnesota's Civil War because it was--and continues to be--so divisive. The Dakota Conflict aroused impassioned prose from participants and commentators as they disputed causes, events, identity, ethnicity, memory, and the all-important matter of the war's legacy. Though the study targets one region, its ramifications reach far beyond Minnesota in its attention to war and memory. An ethnography of representative Dakota Conflict narratives and an analysis of the war's historiography, The War in Words includes new archival information, historical data, and textual criticism.Binding Type: Hardcover

Excellent Red Team InfoSec Book
Format: Paperback
One of the better books on the market on real penetration testing and creating advanced persistent threats. Great coding examples/strategies and how to think outside the box when it comes to attacking systems/companies. Elite guys like Wil Allsopp create their own custom tools all the time for real penetration testing. This is what nation-state actors are doing. Highly recommended.

Buy,buy,buy
Format: Kindle
Buy this rather than all the other books out there. I have a whole library full, and I do mean full, and this is one of the very few really great ones. A wonderful surprise as I was reading another book that got high praise and it is really sorry, a waste of money.

Finally! A Book That Teaches Kids How to Calm Down
Format: Board book, Format: Board book
Pediatrician approved! This is a great book for toddlers, preschoolers and even school-age kids! What sets this book apart from other books on this topic is that it helps kids understand the physical sensation of their emotions. It explains what is happening in their brains and bodies when those feelings start to get "too big.β Also, instead of just telling a child to stay calm, it gives them safe, tangible ways to actually do it like belly breathing, asking for a cuddle, and so many more , As a Pediatrician who works closely with children and families, I canβt recommend this enough. Itβs a gentle, practical, and science-backed tool that turns a stressful meltdown into a teaching opportunity. Will be buying more copies of this book for my kids preschool and school!

Loved this book, really helped with my kids!
Format: Board book
This book is so helpful to give parents the language to talk through feelings with their kids! I have big feeling kids and often the social media scripts can feel awkward and forced. I love that this book helps me have that conversation while my kids are calm and enjoying the cute pictures. I really liked the other two books by Dr. Goodwin and this one is a great addition!
