Redcon1 MRE Lite — Whole Food Protein Powder

MRE Lite is Redcon1's #1 selling protein powder — a whole food protein blend built entirely without whey, delivering 24g of protein per scoop from six real food sources: beef protein isolate, pea protein, brown rice protein, chicken protein, egg albumin, and salmon protein. At 130 calories, 3g total carbohydrates, and 2g fat per serving, it provides a lean, clean protein profile with a genuinely creamy milkshake texture that mixes easily without a blender.

The absence of whey is the defining design choice. Whey protein — while effective — is a common source of digestive discomfort, gas, and bloating for a significant portion of athletes due to its lactose and immunoglobulin content. MRE Lite eliminates that entirely, replacing it with a multi-source animal and plant protein blend that is easier to digest, slower-releasing than whey isolate, and richer in micronutrients naturally present in whole food protein sources.

The 6 Whole Food Protein Sources

MRE Lite draws protein from six distinct food sources, each contributing a different amino acid profile and digestion rate — producing a more complete and sustained amino acid delivery curve than a single-source protein powder.

Beef Protein Isolate

The primary protein source in MRE Lite. Beef protein isolate is processed to remove fat and cholesterol while retaining the high concentration of complete amino acids — including a dense profile of glycine, alanine, proline, and hydroxyproline from collagen fractions — plus naturally occurring creatine. It is one of the most satiating protein sources available and digests at a moderate rate, supporting sustained muscle protein synthesis.

Chicken Protein

A lean, complete animal protein with a favorable essential amino acid ratio. Chicken protein is particularly dense in branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), especially leucine, which is the primary trigger of muscle protein synthesis. Its digestion rate is moderate, contributing to the sustained amino acid release profile of the blend.

Salmon Protein

A rare inclusion in protein powders — salmon protein contributes complete essential amino acids alongside naturally occurring omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) at trace levels. Its inclusion differentiates MRE Lite from other multi-source proteins and adds the micronutrient richness of a genuine whole food fish source rather than an isolated peptide fraction.

Egg Albumin

Egg albumin is the gold-standard protein for bioavailability and digestibility — rated highest among all protein sources on the Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS). It provides a complete essential amino acid profile and digests more slowly than whey isolate, supporting prolonged muscle protein synthesis — making it particularly useful for post-workout and between-meal use.

Pea Protein

A plant-based complete protein source that contributes arginine — a precursor to nitric oxide — at higher concentrations than most animal proteins. Pea protein digests slowly, is hypoallergenic, and rounds out the amino acid profile of the animal protein fractions, particularly complementing the lower arginine content of beef and chicken isolates.

Brown Rice Protein

A plant-based protein source rich in cysteine and methionine — sulfur-containing amino acids that are often limiting in legume-based proteins like pea. Brown rice protein pairs directly with pea protein to create a complete plant-based amino acid profile within the blend, further diversifying the overall amino acid spectrum per serving.

How to Use

  • Post-workout: Mix 1 scoop with 8–10oz of water or preferred beverage immediately after training to support muscle repair and protein synthesis.

  • Between meals: A 130-calorie, 24g protein scoop bridges the gap between meals without significant caloric impact — ideal for maintaining protein targets on a lean or cutting diet.

  • Before bed: The multi-source blend includes slow-digesting proteins (beef, egg albumin, pea) that sustain amino acid release overnight — a practical alternative to casein for nighttime recovery.

  • With milk or milk alternative: For a thicker, higher-protein shake — mixing with 8oz of whole milk adds approximately 8g additional protein and elevates the milkshake texture further.

Decent quality for the price
Color: Grey
Decent quality for the price. Other privacy screens were extremely out of my budget, but this looks and works just fine- I just needed something simple to place behind my couch to hide some clutter. It took me about a half hour to assemble, but it was easy enough. It might be due to my carpeting, but I don't trust that the screen would be stable enough to stand freely without falling. Thankfully my plan all along was to wedge the screen between the couch and a box of clutter anyway, so for me it works as l'd planned!

Overpriced but effective.
Color: Cream
I happened to get lucky and get a warehouse deal at an additional 30% discount. Even at $25, it feels a little overpriced. But it was easy to assemble and serves its purpose. If you line the Velcro up exactly, the panels sag, if you stretch past even, but where it still grips, they look pretty ok. It is very light and does fold very compact for easy storage.

Great price for a great product
Color: Coal Black
Excellent quality and great price to boot. Easy to assemble and folds up easily to be stored. We are using it as a privacy screen when we have company that needs to sleep on the couch and also to block off a hallway leading to a guest suite. It looks great and is as described in the ad

No.
Color: Coal Black, Color: Coal Black
This was horribly made and a nightmare to put together. You have to basically bend the bars to get the coverings attached. The sizes don't match. The stickers that label the parts are impossible to remove and if you do get them off theres a lot of residue left behind. On top of that once it was put together I noticed theres a big dirty foot print on it which is definitely not mine.

You have to add weight to it
Color: Coal Black
It does its job and it was easy to put together but it's a little on the flimsy side and it will easily be knocked down. So you're going to have to figure out a way to make the legs heavier? I used cinder blocks, single cinder blocks and it works just fine. Just know that it will knock over super easy
