The leaves of the Jaboa Snake Plant are flat, dark green with pale green mottling, similar in appearance to quilted maple. Care

General Maintenance: Snake plants are one of the easiest plants to take care of. Repot once your snake plant breaks its pot (or right before) into a pot 1 size larger. These plant love to be rootbound and will grow their foliage much faster when they're not focusing on their roots. To propagate a snake plant, the easiest way is by division. Separate the pups from the mother plant and put them in their own pots. Propagation via cuttings is also possible, but cuttings are known to rot before producing roots

Temperature: Snake plants love the mild climate of indoors. They prefer temperatures ranging from 18-25 degrees Celsius, but do not allow your plant to go below 15 degrees Celsius

Light: For optimum growth, keep your snake plants in bright, indirect light. Direct light will burn their leaves. Snake plants are known to be survivors in near total darkness, but if kept in the dark, they will grow extremely slowly and will eventually die without light

Watering: Snake plants have very succulent leaves, and rarely need watering. Water when 50-70% of the soil is dry. They will need more frequent watering during the growing season, but still very sparingly compared to most other plants

Soil: Snake plants will thrive in a blended soil of 50% regular potting soil and 50% cactus/succulent soil. They will also do well in pure cactus soil, but the added organic nutrition of potting soil will help growth

Fertilizer: Snake plants rarely need fertilizing. When fertilizing, feed with a balanced houseplant mix once a month during the growing season (April - August), and stop during dormancy

Account of a Review from a St. Nicholas
I have been representing the spirit of St. Nicholas for children for the past 26 years. I have been everything from a Mall Santa to a part in a Christmas Program at our local church. About ten years ago, I started reading this story to the children of the local cops & firefighters fairly close to Christmas Eve each year from an old tattered children's book. I usually hosted this in my own living room until it got too large to do so. This year we opened that reading up to the community and filled the basement of our local library with children and their parents. I needed something to replace the old tattered children's book with and this fit the bill. The illustrations are beautiful and the words large enough to read in front of a group of children. I wish the pages were a little more robust as they are difficult to turn with white gloves on but that is minor. I cannot recommend this edition of the timeless story enough.

“Twas the Night before Christmas” illustrated by Matt Tavares
Format: Hardcover
Clement C. Moore - “Twas the Night before Christmas” is a perennial holiday favorite of mine. Matt Tavares’ monochrome illustrations are incredible! Mr. Tavares’ version remains true to the text within the original 1823 poem, ”A Visit from St. Nicholas”. As noted - two original reindeer names – Dunder and Blixem. I highly recommend Irish illustrator PJ Lynch 2021 version and American illustrator Matt Tavares 2022 version of Moore’s “Twas the Night before Christmas”.

Tavares' beautiful craftsmanship brings Moore's poem to life
‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas is a beautifully illustrated edition of the famed Clement C. Moore poem. Using the original anonymous version of the poem (later attributed to Moore), artist Matt Tavares crafts a series of elegant black and white illustrations that captures its enchantment and whimsy. Additionally, the book’s layout has a simple yet classic design with green trim and subtle pieces of shading that give it a majestic look and feel. One of the best editions of the poem ever published, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas: or Account of a Visit from St. Nicholas has a bit of magic all its own.

Beautiful book
I purchased this book for my kids to read as it gets closer to Christmas. I specifically chose it because of the old world charm it has. I love the black and white sketches and the fact that the outdoor scenes of brownstones were illustrated from Boston brownstones, where we used to live. This book is just a classic and the illustrations have such depth and emotion. There is that quality and detail you can only get from black and white..and from an amazing illustrator. Lovely book. I'm very happy to own it and have it as part of our Christmas tradition..a lot more special to me than Elf on The Shelf..which was last years Christmas book purchase.
