Blackmagic Design Videohub Mini 4x2 12G

The Blackmagic Design Videohub Mini 4x2 12G is an ultra-compact, zero-latency 12G-SDI video router designed for mobile kits, broadcast racks, and DIT (Digital Imaging Technician) carts. Occupying only 1/3 of a rack width, it allows for the simultaneous routing of SD, HD, and Ultra HD video standards up to 2160p60 in a highly portable form factor.

Core Routing Capabilities

  • 4 Inputs and 2 Outputs: Features 4 x 12G-SDI inputs, each with a dedicated loop output, and 2 x 12G-SDI main outputs. This allows for signal passthrough to other devices while maintaining full routing flexibility.

  • Multi-Rate 12G-SDI: Automatically detects and switches between SD, HD, 3G, 6G, and 12G-SDI rates. This "future-proof" connectivity ensures you can mix legacy 1080i gear with modern 4K 60p equipment on the same router.

  • SDI Re-Clocking: All inputs include integrated re-clockers that regenerate the signal to eliminate jitter. This ensures that even after long cable runs, the output signal is clean and free of digital noise.

Advanced Front Panel & Webcam Features

Despite its small size, the 4x2 model includes the same high-end interface features as the larger Mini routers:

  • Tactile Cut-Bus Control: The front panel includes dedicated buttons for fast manual switching. To change a connection, simply select the destination and then the source.

  • Emergency Front Patching: Includes a front-facing 12G-SDI input and output. Connecting gear to the front input automatically overrides the highest rear input (Input 4), allowing for rapid troubleshooting without reaching behind the rack.

  • USB-C Webcam Out: A built-in USB-C port allows the Videohub to appear as a 1080p HD webcam on any computer. This enables you to route any SDI source directly into streaming or conferencing software like Zoom, OBS, or Microsoft Teams.

Performance and Reliability

  • Clean Switch Technology: When a reference signal (Black Burst or Tri-Sync) is connected, the outputs can perform "clean switches" between sources of the same video standard, ensuring glitch-free transitions for live monitoring or broadcast feeds.

  • Flexible Power: Features an internal 100-240V AC power supply (IEC) and a 12V DC locking barrel input. This dual-power design is ideal for redundant studio setups or battery-powered field operation.

  • Remote Management: Can be fully controlled via Ethernet using the Videohub Software Control for Mac, Windows, and iPad, or via hardware panels like the Videohub Master Control Pro.

Technical Specifications

  • Video Standards: Supports SD, HD, 2K, Ultra HD, and 4K DCI up to 60 fps.

  • Color Precision: 10-bit YUV 4:2:2 or 12-bit RGB 4:4:4.

  • Form Factor: 1/3 Rack Unit (1U height).

  • Power Usage: Efficient 17W maximum draw.

Operational Insight

The Videohub Mini 4x2 is the ultimate "problem solver" for small-scale productions. It is frequently used to add extra inputs to an ATEM switcher, allowing the operator to pre-select between different playback decks or remote cameras before they ever reach the switcher's main inputs. Because it handles 12G-SDI, it remains a viable piece of kit even as workflows transition fully into high-frame-rate Ultra HD.

Pro Tip

If you are building a "fly-pack" for remote broadcast, the 1/3 rack width allows you to mount three of these units side-by-side in a single rack space using a Blackmagic Teranex Mini Rack Shelf. This gives you a massive 12x6 routing capability in just 1U of space.

Beta, Alpha, Omega oh my!
Format: Kindle
Omegas are precious and given to Alphas & their packs... but the Betas want in too. To this end, the Beta government is rolling out its trial of assigning a Beta to each Alpha-Omega pack. But forcing a Beta into a pack where they are not wanted will not end well... Of course, no one expected the Omega to fall for the assigned Beta. Great read and cliffhanger

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Good start to a series
Format: Kindle
I delayed reading the series for reasons I don’t remember. But my TBR list is huge so I thought I’d take a shot of this and I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think the blurb about it was anything special. But it was a very good book. It took some interesting twists and turns. I am so glad the second book is already out. Because I would not have waited patiently. Very slow burn but good storyline. 🔥🔥/5

A good read
Format: Kindle
Multiple points of view. 3 Alpha men and an Omega male. She is a Beta in training for a new program placing betas in Alpha/Omega packs. Mila is only doing the program for the money to take care of her dad. She wasn't expecting to fall for a pack but when she sees this packs Omega she is done for. There is just something about him. His Alphas are good looking as well. Too bad she is hiding a secret and their government is acting shady. I liked it and can't wait to see where their story goes.

Slightly repetitive but I did love some things
Format: Kindle
I love this type of story. And omegaverse is one of my all time favorite genres. But there are a few things that pulled me out of my enjoyment while I was reading. It was repetitive at times as well as struggled with telling not showing. So we didn’t always feel like we were experiencing things with the main character. There were also some plot holes but they may still be answered in part 2. Now this isn’t to be said I didn’t enjoy parts of the story. I loved the almost instant love between Mila and Oliver. And how he started changing around her.
