The whisky is named after the old Longrow distillery which stood adjacent to Springbank.
Springbank distillery was founded in 1828 and remains to be one of the very few independently owned distilleries in Scotland. Springbank is one of the 2 distilleries to perform every step of the production process on site from malting the barley, to bottling the spirit (big kudos to Springbank and Kilchoman, which is the second distillery to do so). Springbank single malt is also available from the distillery, as well as Hazelburn triple distilled single malt.
Longrow Peated is bottled at 46% alc/vol, non chill-filtered, and has no caramel color added, just like all other offerings from the distillery. It is really a connoisseur’s malt that requires you to work with it, it needs some patience and time, and it will benefit from a drop or two of water. Trust us, the results are truly rewarding! It is perfect for the peat-heads, who are looking for a different good quality malt.
Nose: Salt and a leathery smokiness come to the fore in a maritime combination, like a Harbourmaster’s Jacket.
Palate: Light and sweet with notes of green grapes and rhubarb, a great contrast to the nose. Then comes a big blast of smoke.
Finish: That salty smokiness returns from the nose providing a deeply satisfying ending.
