A Sliver of Chinese Bell History:

Many chimes of bells appeared in the days before the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-206 BC). They produced quick and short notes. Each bell could produce two different notes. These musical bells were used mainly for performances. Over history, these musical bells were turned into sacrificial vessels and symbols of power, rank and position of the ruling class.

They also entered the imperial court and became a symbol of imperial power. There were rules about bells: The emperor could have bells on the four sides of his palace; a duke or prince could have bells on three sides of his residence; a minister could have two bells; a regular official could have one bell.

With their imposing shapes and deep and prolonged sound, large round bells were widely used in Buddhism and Taoism. An old Chinese saying goes: There are bells at every temple. Without bells, there would be no temples.

During the Ming and Qing dynasties, ancient Chinese bells were divided into different categories:

Musical Bells: A bell struck at a feast to accompany the singing of songs.

Buddhist and Taoist Bells: A bell struck at a Buddhist or Taoist temple to draw the devotion of worshippers and the awe of ghosts and gods.

Imperial Court Bells: A bell struck to call together subordinates when a monarch holds court or an official leaves his office.

Night Watch Bells: The peals of big bells can be heard five kilometers away and the strokes of small bells can reach places half a kilometer off.

Sturdy
The ball bearings make them roll smooth. I've put plenty of pressure through them and no bending or breaking. The middle sized unit is probably the most useful. The small one has it's uses but can act like a pizza cutter and easily go through sound deadening mats. The large one has a little too much surface area to get a good crush on the mats.

Works great, good price
Makes installing sound deadening panels a breeze. A little elbow grease required but makes for perfect contact with the sheet metal and butyl.

Well Made Tools!
I have been installing Kilmat in my early 74 Datsun 260Z restoration and these tools are very nice for the price. I like them because they actually have ball bearings and move smoothly over the matting. The size selection is very handy as well and even has some nice finished wooden handles.
