Handmade Damascus Steel Folding Knife โ€“ Green & Black Pakka Wood Handle

This premium folding knife is crafted with a full Damascus steel blade and a striking two-tone green & black pakka wood handle. Perfect for outdoor use, collectors, or everyday carry, each knife features unique handmade detailing and a secure lock-back mechanism.

This Damascus folding knife puts a flowing 1095 and 15N20 pattern in your hand at a size that actually carries. The green and black pakka wood handle grips clean whether your hands are dry or damp, and the blade locks open with a firm, audible click. Every pattern is different because Damascus is forged, not stamped.

The Blade

The blade is hand-forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy steel. The two steels are folded and drawn out together, and the contrast between them creates the flowing wave pattern visible across the full blade face. Blade length runs approximately 3.5 to 4 inches. 1095 steel is known for taking a keen edge and holding it through sustained use. The 15N20 adds bright contrast lines and contributes toughness to the billet. The edge arrives razor-sharp from the forge.

The Handle

The handle is dyed pakka wood in green and black. Pakka wood is natural wood compressed and stabilized under heat and pressure with resin. The process makes it denser than raw wood, resistant to moisture, and less likely to warp or crack with temperature changes. A brass separator divides the green and black sections. Silver pins run through the scales and secure them to the frame. The scalloped profile fits naturally against the palm with or without a glove.

The Build

Overall length is approximately 8 to 9 inches when open. The knife uses a secure locking system that holds the blade rigid during use and releases when you press the lock tab with your thumb. The polished bolster at the front of the handle adds weight forward and helps with control on detail cuts. The knife folds compact for pocket carry and the handle sits flush when closed.

Real-World Use

This blade handles camping food prep, cordage cutting, trail tasks, and field dressing cleanly and without complaint. It suits the outdoors person who carries a folder every day and wants a blade that does real work, as well as the collector who wants a Damascus pattern they can actually use. A hand-forged billet develops its edge geometry through the smith's finishing passes, not a machine program, and that difference shows when the blade meets resistance.

The JW Difference

JW SteelCrafts hand-forges knives in Texas. Every Damascus blade carries a pattern that no other knife shares because the layers form differently in each billet. The brand holds a 4.91-star rating from 829 verified buyers. Orders ship in 5 to 10 days from Texas.

Who Is This For

  • The everyday carry user who wants a Damascus blade that is compact enough for a front pocket and tough enough for daily tasks.
  • The camper or hiker who needs a reliable folder for food prep, cordage, and trail work on extended trips.
  • The hunter who wants a compact field knife that folds safely for transport and opens fast when needed.
  • The collector who appreciates a hand-forged Damascus pattern that varies from piece to piece and cannot be replicated by machine.

How to Use It

Open the blade fully until the lock engages before cutting. For slicing tasks, use a smooth pull stroke along the belly of the blade. For controlled detail cuts, choke up toward the bolster and use the tip. Always confirm the lock is engaged before applying pressure. To close, press the lock tab with your thumb and fold the blade slowly away from your fingers.

How to Care for It

After Every Use

  • Rinse the blade with warm water after contact with food, moisture, or organic material.

  • Dry immediately with a clean cloth, including around the pivot and lock mechanism.

  • Never put the knife in a dishwasher. Heat and water pressure damage both the Damascus and the wood handle.

Every Few Weeks

  • Apply a small drop of food-safe mineral oil to the blade flat on both sides.

  • Work a drop of light machine oil into the pivot with a toothpick or cotton swab.

  • Wipe away any excess oil before carrying or storing.

Storage

  • Store folded in a dry location away from prolonged humidity.

  • Do not store in an airtight plastic bag, which traps moisture against the carbon steel.

  • If storing long-term, apply a thin coat of mineral oil before putting the knife away.

Sharpening

  • Use a fine whetstone or ceramic rod.

  • Hold the blade at the original bevel angle, approximately 20 to 22 degrees per side.

  • Draw the blade away from the edge in smooth, consistent strokes.

  • Finish each session with a leather strop to realign the edge and restore the bite.

FAQs

What steel is this blade made from?

The blade is hand-forged from 1095 high-carbon steel and 15N20 nickel alloy steel. The two steels create the Damascus pattern through the forging process. 1095 holds a sharp edge; 15N20 adds the bright contrast lines and structural toughness.

Is this knife good for everyday carry?

Yes. The blade length of approximately 3.5 to 4 inches and the folded profile make it practical for front-pocket carry. The secure lock keeps the blade stable during use, and it folds flat for safe storage between tasks.

Does this knife come with a sheath?

The listing includes the folding knife. No sheath is listed for this product. If you need a sheath, contact JW SteelCrafts directly before ordering.

Is this knife legal to carry in the United States?

Folding knives are legal in most US jurisdictions, but blade length limits and carry restrictions vary by state and city. Review your local laws before carrying this knife in public.

How do I sharpen a Damascus steel blade?

Use a fine whetstone or ceramic rod at the original bevel angle, approximately 20 to 22 degrees per side. Draw the blade away from the edge. Finish with a leather strop. Avoid power grinders, which can remove too much material and damage the Damascus pattern.

Can I customize the handle or request an engraving?

Contact JW SteelCrafts directly for custom requests. Use the contact link in the Explore More section below.

How long will a Damascus folding knife last?

With regular oiling, dry storage, and proper sharpening, a 1095 and 15N20 Damascus blade lasts for many years of active use. The pakka wood handle resists moisture and will not warp under normal conditions.

Is this a good gift for someone who carries knives?

Yes. The Damascus pattern looks distinctive in hand, and each piece is visually unique because no two forged billets produce the same pattern. It works well as a gift for a birthday, Father's Day, Christmas, or a retirement.

Gift This Knife

This knife makes a direct and personal gift for Father's Day, Christmas, a retirement, or a groomsman set. Every blade has a unique Damascus pattern, so no two pieces look exactly alike, and that difference is visible the moment it comes out of the box. It ships presentation-ready and no extra wrapping is needed.

Asurion is AWESOME!
Ok, so let me start with the fact that you should NOT waste your time calling Amazon's customer service if you think you have a claim under Asurion's monthly protection plan. CALL ASURION! I wasted almost an hour with Amazon representatives that have absolutely no training in how the Asurion plan works, or even any idea if my item was covered. In fact, they told me the mechanized chair I purchased under the plan wasn't covered! Finally, my call got escalated to a manager who was just as clueless about my coverage, but had the best idea ever... call Asurion! The smartest thing I did that morning was hang up with Amazon, and reach out to Asurion as I should have done in the first place. Dealing with Asurion's customer service, after my Amazon call, was like being elevated to VIP status! ๐Ÿ˜„ Asurion's rep nicely took all my info, including the chair's purchase date and order number. Then they asked that I upload a couple of pictures of the product, along with a written description of the malfunction I had mentioned over the phone. This is where it gets really good. They told me they'd review the claim to determine if they'd send a repair specialist or reimburse me the cost of the item. In less than 48 hours, they determined that a payout was in order, and sent me an email that included an Amazon gift card for the total cost of the item minus the taxes I had paid, which I loaded directly into my Amazon wallet. Apparently, Asurion does not include the purchase taxes in their coverage. But, I can live with that. All in all, Asurion's claims division get a double thumbs up ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ, and the company gets big ups from me for not only standing behind their protection plan, but doing so expeditiously! Special note: If you buy a lot of stuff from Amazon, and have Asurion's monthly protection plan, scroll the item listing before pulling the trigger on your purchase... you need to see the green streamer that indicates your product is protected by the plan. If you don't see that, check to see if there are alternative products that might be covered. There are very few electronic or high ticket items that aren't covered, but looking for that green banner in the item description that says it's covered is key to foregoing any future headaches.

If they can't fix it they will replace it.
This protection plan that i pay monthly for paid for itself ten fold. My 3D printer just quit working and after the manufacturer warrenty had ran out at that. I submitted my claim they emailed me a shipping label in which I shipped out my printer that same day. Two days later they received my printer determined it couldc not be fixed and sent me a Amazon gift card for the full price of my printer. Today I will be receiving my new 3d printer thanks to Complete Protect. I highly recommend anyone and everyone to purchase this policy. This warrenty is like having a home warrenty like Homeshield but for your electronics and probably other stuff that i just have not read to see what else. This insurance will save me so much money over the corse of this year and every year after that. Thank you Complete Protect.

"Outstanding support and a seamless process!"
Great experience with Asurion insurance through Amazon. I wasn't sure how to register my items for the monthly plan, but the customer support team in the chat was incredibly efficient and guided me through the entire paperwork process smoothly. Furthermore, the service I received at the repair shop (Break Fix) was excellent. The whole process was seamless, and I received my digital gift card without any issues, which Iโ€™ve already applied to my Amazon account. I am very grateful for their professionalism and how easy they made everything. Highly recommended!"

Received giftcard money to replace my plan-protected malfunctioning motherboard
I've been subscribing to the Asurion protection plan for a while. Recently, an Asus Prime PC motherboard I had bought a few months ago on Amazon stopped working well. I ended up considering filing a claim with Asurion to see if they would either fix/replace it or issue the purchase price money, so I could buy the failed electronics replacement component again for my custom-built PC. I went to the protection plan's website and started the claim filing process but couldn't find the category my failed component would be under in order to select it from the drop-down list. I ended up messaging the live customer service. The chat messaging was somewhat slow, the agent told me they were experiencing some communication delays throughout their systems. Ultimately, the agent was very kind and understanding, and completed the claim filing process for me on her side by asking me to provide the necessary info such as the item's product name, date of purchase, price before taxes, etc. I received a printable UPS shipping label in the email, printed it, and returned the item in the mail. Approximately 2 days later, I received an Amazon giftcard code in the email with the dollar amount equal to the item's price before the sales tax. Then I redeemed the giftcard code on the Amazon page and proceeded to apply the giftcard money to my next purchase of a replacement Asus prime motherboard, and it all worked out successfully. Therefore, I had no issues with the protection plan service and recommend it to others.

Fast and easy but I dont trust the process to be fully automated.
The process was very smooth and fairly quick. The only challenge I had was that the CLAIM status showed complete but I had to manually go look up the status. There was no email or notification it was closed. After manually checking the status, I called customer support and they said since I called in, they would process the payout. I wonder if I didnt call in if they would have processed it? Also, the phone rep said they would issue me a amazon egift card but then the next day I received a email saying they mailed out the payout. Very poor communication but so far the process was easy and fast.
