ᝰ THE STORY

As dusk drapes the land in fire and gold, an old farmer pedals steadily along a narrow path, his silhouette etched against the blazing sky. The Road Home captures an unanticipated yet deeply evocative moment—one where simplicity, culture, and nature converge in perfect harmony.

Balancing freshly harvested crops on the back of his bicycle, the farmer moves through the endless green expanse of rice paddies, the still-lush fields bathed in the final breath of daylight. Atop his head, a traditional caping—woven and timeworn—shields him from the lingering heat, a quiet emblem of generations before him.

This fleeting instant is made extraordinary by an unexpected interplay of light. A passing motorbike, unseen but present, casts an opposing glow, illuminating the farmer’s worn yet resolute expression while the setting sun ignites the heavens. The sky, layered in molten hues of crimson and amber, burns against the cool greens of the earth; a dramatic contrast, a moment suspended between fire and shadow.

In the distance, the rolling silhouette of the hills swallows the last remnants of the sun, its descent slow and deliberate. Half-hidden, it lingers—just like this lone traveler, moving forward on a path as ancient as time itself. This is more than a return home; it is a quiet triumph, a testament to endurance, to the beauty of the everyday, to the poetry found in the simplest journeys.

This book is a must read for anyone trying to understand the role of the US in trade.
      Format: Hardcover
Hudson explains US monetary policy from the pre-WWI era to the present day and the points at which it goes through significant changes. He covers the goals of the US at the time, the perspectives of the victims and opponents of these policies and the reasons for changes in monetary policy. I had already read the previous edition but he updates this book to include how the China and Russia are building effective resistance to the machinations of the world bank, IMF, and to the hegemony of the dollar zone in general. Essential reading!
