Add a hint of the sacred to your yard with this Bird in Hand Cameron Country Church Bird House. Masterfully crafted by the Amish in eastern Pennsylvania using reclaimed and recycled barn wood and with an entry hole of 1.25" diameter, this church bird house is perfect for chickadees, finches, titmice, and wrens. Constructed in the image of a church, the house conveys a sense of awe with its stately scale model red doors, holy cross, and majestic steeple which adds even greater height to the piece. A convenient small metal panel on the back of the house slides open to reveal a 2" diameter hole for nest inspection and cleaning while keeping out unwanted visitors. Small gaps under the roof and walls of the church provide ventilation for the inside of the church bird house. The pitched roof is enhanced with sheet metal for durability and overhangs the entry hole, helping to keep the roosting birds inside dry. A wire on top of the house makes hanging the piece simple, or the flat base can accommodate a mounting plate for displaying on a pole or post. The recycled and reclaimed wood construction lends it an environmentally friendly air. The birds in your yard will exclaim "Hallelujah!" when they see this Cameron Country Church Bird House. Made in the USA.

This is a good book to read and understand how the European nations deployed their armies around the world to extract natural resources from other nations. Now, we have developing and underdeveloped nations.

Interesting book, dull period
Format: Paperback
As a Marxist historian, Hobsbawm sees the world at this time, as well as the modern world, as a playground for the forces of capitalism. He apologizes for taking a eurocentric approach to world history, while acknowledging that Europe largely determined the course of world events during this period. In spite of the title, there actually isn't much discussion of colonial empires; Hobsbawm seems more interested in how the Age of Empire affected the rulers more than the ruled. His Marxist sympathies are in evidence and at times make his conclusions a bit predictable, but some of his cultural critiques are quite brilliant. The chapter on the dilemmas posed by modern science is exceptional. Reading a book like this seems to me much more interesting than actually living in this period would have been.
