Artist, Monica Welch from Round Rock, Texas, is a wife and mom of two kiddos. She grew up Protestant and joined the Catholic church as an adult. She started drawing whimsical illustrations to help herself learn beautiful prayers, and she continues drawing so that she can inspire others to do the same.

Artist's Statement:
The artwork was based on the lovely painting 'Our Lady of the Lilies' by Bouguereau. As my drawings always include text, I incorporated both a quote by St Catherine Laboure and the text of the Miraculous Medal prayer ("O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee") into my rendition - along with contemporary style elements.

The original watercolor measured 8x10 inches. Original drawing and calligraphy were done by hand using archival ink pens on watercolor paper. Watercolors were used to add color.
